Pros & Cons

Pros

Great Power Bank, but Recharging Risk. This is a great charger/power bank. It was able to recharge my phone several times and even charge my laptop, albeit slowly, but I wasn't expecting it to work at all, so I'm still impressed. However, one thing I noticed was that because it has 2 Type C USB ports that are also used to charge the power bank, when it gets near full charge, it starts to (I think) try to serve power to the wall adapter/charger, causing it to become very hot to the touch. I fear if I left it to charge it may cause an electrical fire. For this reason I can't rate it a full 5 stars. It should have been made with an exclusive charging port. I'm not sure how this concern was missed during product testing.

40000mAh!? Update: I always keep all of my chargers fully charged, they usually stay fully charged until I’m ready to use it. I thought this product would be the same. It’s not. I fully charged it and haven’t used it for about 3 weeks. When I went to use it, it was down to 2 dots. Which means it needs to be charged before every use. When all of my other chargers were fully charged and hadn’t been used for a greater amount of time. I will reach out to Anker and ask them if this is normal or if mine is faulty and update once I get that response. I own several Anker products. Including the Anker Portable Charger, PowerHouse 100 97.2Wh with 100W AC Outlet/45W USB-C and their version of solar portable charger as well. So when I saw the capability of this item I got really excited. A lot of people complained about the weight but it weight just as much as the other powerhouse and has a lot more capacity. The awkward shape is the only thing that concerns me for travel. The powerhouse is definitely thinner. Once I got it delivered, it came with about 3 little dots and I was able to charge my iPhone 14 pro max a little over 2 times. I made sure the battery was completely drained before plugging it in. It took about 6 ½ hrs to fully charge. I used the Anker 65W wall port with a simple USB-C to USB-C Amazon brand cord. The charger did not come with a case which I was confused on because every other portable charger from Anker has always come with one. I’ve bought around 13 of them. I am a flight attendant so I’m always looking for the next best thing I can rely on when it becomes to portable power. This is also the first product from them that didn’t come with a wall plug and the cord it came with is an old model (USB-A to USB-C). Which makes me question the age of this product even though I’m just now hearing about it. I bought it right away because that price for that much power and it’s by Anker!? Unheard of.

Great Pack... Depending on what you use it for. I've been using this for a couple weeks now. The power capacity is amazing and will change all of my devices multiple times. My job requires me to be away from an outlet for about 10 hours every day with plenty of sitting around. I will bring my laptop or steam deck and it will easily charge these multiple times. The one major downside to it, the charge speed is not the greatest. If you use it for a mobile gaming system such as the Nintendo switch or the Steam Deck, it may slowly drain if you are playing and charging at the same time. A couple minor annoyances, it is a MASSIVE fingerprint magnet. it is also quite large. I will not fit into your average pocket and its decently heavy. Also, if you plan on using it primarily to travel don't buy this. I can guarantee you it will be taken if you try to board a plane with it. Overall, it is a great product by a reliable brand with only a few minor issues. The charge will last the average person about a week.

Must have. My kids use an Anker power bank 26800 Mah and by the end of the day it’s out of power which seems kinda insane. My kids iPad Pro uses a lot of power due to them using it nonstop and having brightness at its peak. When I saw this I thought I’d give it a try. Other then how massive this charger is so far so good. This thing still has slightly half of its power by the end of the day. My kids use a fast charging cable and we use a fast charging brick to recharge this. I’ve had no issues and have been quite impressived. I’ve only have it for like 2 months but it’s worked great during this time. For 80 bucks this thing is a steal. Outside it’s massive size if you can stomach towing this thing around . It’s an absolute must have for those who might be on the go a lot like professionals or college students who would have a lot of use for this. People who travel a lot as well would find this really useful. I have had some issues with prior anker products so I can’t vouch for how great there products are. But I will attest their customer service dept will replace your product if it’s still under warranty. I’ve had several I had to return due to defect but they do get a new replacement to you within 2 weeks. That might sound all that great but try Samsung Customer service. It’s completely horrendous. I actually just gave up cause i just kept getting the run around and couldn’t get my claim processed for a hard drive. I was out a couple hundred but the time that I was spending was costing me even more. But overall Anker is a pretty good company to deal with.

Boat Anchor by Anker. Bottom Line on Top: With great power comes great disadvantages -- like weight and charging issues. I bought this due to frustrations with lesser batteries during Hurricane Ian. This thing is a monster and provides really impressive amounts of power for all my devices. Poincaré and Einstein would probably object to me using their names here, but if you want the energy, you have to put up with the mass. The Anker 347 is shockingly heavy. It really feels like picking up a brick or a metal slab. The idea of travelling with a power pack that is heavier than my full-size laptop is ludicrous. But that's not why I bought it. I couldn't care less what it weighs. If that were the only issue, this would be a solid five-star review. It's not, and the reason is the charging situation. The 347 does not come with a wall charger or cord, which I don't care about. Just for fun, I tried to charge it from a desktop computer. Six hours got no noticeable results. Using a standard (2A) plug didn't get it to 30% overnight. However, using the BESTEK Power Tower with 40W/8A (1500 Joules) [ASIN:B07D7331C7], a phenomenal product, btw, worked a treat. It still took about seven hours, but it got to 100%. That is NOT ideal for hurricane preparedness, but will take me through a few days after a storm. I just have to resign myself to the fact it's a one-shot deal; recharging won't be likely. Overall, this still is everything that it advertises. A freaking monster power backup in a tight, portable package. It weighs a ton, but it gets the job done.

ANOTHER AMAZING ANKER PRODUCT!!! Absolute amazing Anker product. Anker never seems to fail when it comes to basically everything they’ve put on the market. I have many Anker products and this may top them all. The Power Bank has a whopping 40,000MAH battery capacity. I don’t have many if any negative things to say about this device. Only thing I wish they could’ve added would’ve been a faster input / output charging power. It’s listed to output/ input a max 30W so most apple owners this will be more than adequate for your device. I believe the iPhone 14 Pro Max will only allow 27W when charging it even at low battery. Would’ve also been nice to possibly have added a carrying sleeve of some sort. Overall the item is great and I’ve really enjoyed using it. This things lasts a long time before recharging.

Cons

Does not recharge from Thunderbolt port. After having used this battery pack for a month I've found it doesn't work with most low power USB devices like fans or lights in normal mode. You have to first turn on the battery and then double click the power level indicator. One of the leds will turn green and now it has entered into trickle charge mode. You have to remember to press it again to exit trickle mode. It works with a 5 watt led desk lamp in normal mode but not led lights that use 1 or 0.5 watts. This can be a minor or major inconvenience depending on how often you plan on using low power USB devices with this battery pack. This battery will not recharge itself from a desktop USB C Thunderbolt port. I tried with a Thunderbolt and an Anker non Thunderbolt USB C cable. I have two older 20,000 mAh Anker batteries that have no problem drawing power from that same Thunderbolt port. It does charge from a PC's USB A port and wall plugs with no problems. Then there is the confusing 20,000 mAh rating on a 40,000 mAh battery. The capacity printed on the battery itself is listed as "20,000 mAh 7.4Vdc/148Wh". Which is exactly double of a 20,000 mAh battery pack at 74Wh. The spec sheet on this item says it contains "4 x 10,000 mAh" cells. They wired two battery cells in parallel resulting in two pairs of 20,000 batteries at 3.7 volts each. Then they wired the two pairs of batteries in series resulting in a total of "20,000 mAh 7.4Vdc/148Wh" instead of 40,000 mAh at 3.7 volts also containing the same 148Wh. Over all a 3.5 star product. Recharge time on a 5 volt USB A port at 0.9A will take 2 days. It will work but it is not practical. Plugged into a 5 volt 2.4A charger it will take 13+ hours. 13+ hours assuming you leave at least 20% as to not damage the battery long term. The 8 led dots is also a weird choice as my older Anker battery has 10. Trying to guess and stay above 20% to maximize the number of charge cycles on this unit is more difficult than with 10 led dots. You should expect at least 13-14 hours, so charge it overnight. After discharging and recharging this battery pack four times I estimate that you'll need about 2 hours and 25 minutes for each led dot on a 5 volt 2.4A charger.

This Thing is a Brick. It's about the size of a brick and probably the same weight. Charges my phones just fine and pretty fast bout an hour or so. My cameras too. Didn't get hot not even luke warm. But for some reason it will not charge my MacBook Pro. It accepts it as an external power source but won't charge it. It's not ideal for travel alone but if you're carrying gear like cameras and tripods laptops ehh it's no big deal to throw this in. Would prefer a case instead of a pouch that came with it though. It comes with a USB to USB C but no C to C which is not as common a thing. I only have 1 that came with a camera I have. Would be cool if it came with one. I forget to press twice for trickle charging smaller items. Would be nice if it was automatic. Charging this thing is an overnight affair. If you use a low 5v 1a it will take forever. a 5v 2a will be less but still takes a couple DAYS. I used a 5v 3a and it took more than 24hrs charging it with 1 dot left. Don't know how much charge I had left on the last dot. A numeric reading would be better. A hiccup I had was USB C to USB C sometimes it would charge sometimes it would recharge. So I turn it on first then plug my device in and it will charge. The other way and it started taking recharge. Not sure if it's suppose to be that way or mine is a little wonk. Build quality is good but the piano black plastic edge scratches easily. If you want power that will last for days powering a little security camera or all day power for a camera or to charge your phone quick many times over this brick is your go to. If you need plug in power for your laptop this will provide all day power but it will not charge your laptop. Bummer.

Big Boi charching. So the anker 40k battery it's great 2 USB a's and 2 USB c's exactly what I need for my devices all Android and a switch to keep the power running for long periods of time. But don't get me wrong it dose have a few issues. 1) if your getting this for a flight don't even bother you will have tsa probably take it away. Your better of with the 26 or 20k banks. That's minus a star. 2) I have only charged it so far 2 times but for some reason between the 2 charges it seems like it is loosing way to much power when I charge my devices. Anker if there is a reason for that please let me know. That's minus a star if it's a defective bank then let me know I'll add a star back and get a new one. 3)it a 40k power bank keep it charged and if it dose not loose charge good for most emergencies. 4) can be used as a blunt weapon when you run out of juice. 5 can be used as a brick if needed literally

This thing is a hefty brick. Way too heavy to travel with. Don’t get me wrong I love Anker, but this thing is huge and heavy!

Big and used up quickly. I got this one when there is promotion. but the size is pretty big and not really convenience to put in your backpack for going to school or work. Another issue I had was, I fully charged it, and thinking it could charged my Goolge Pixel phone many times (close or more than 10 times) ? but it is out after I charged my phone for 3 or 4 times.

Great battery pack but 1 big problem. the battery back is a decent size, only problem i have with it loses battery when not in use for a while, i fully charged mine to the max and within a few days it lost 1 bar of light, but other than that its great last me all weekend at a camping trip with the friends i was able to charge my phone 3 times and my friends phones 2 times.
