excellent lighting and camera quality. I have the camera floodlight installed in my garage. The motion lights are very bright and work perfectly to avoid me groping around in the dark when I arrive home, or having to return to the garage to turn off the lights when I leave. The video/photo quality of the camera is excellent (although being in my garage, it only needs to cover a small area). I have it installed on the separately purchased plug-in mount. Installation and setup was very easy.
Just as good as new ones. No problems I've had these before never bought refurbished ones but decided to give them a try n they look just like new ones work like new ones so what the heck no problems whatsoever 5 stars

Don't install above 9' or else... So I had an electrician replace my existing floodlight which was 20 feet in the air right under the soffit with a Ring Floodlight Camera. They needed a very tall ladder as it turns out you need to press some button on this device in order to set it up the first time. So, I make sure I did that while the electrician is there. Twice in the last month it has mysteriously gone off-line. The first time I was able to toddle the power on and off to it and get it to come back but the second time it just did not come back. So I call ring support, (which I have to say is not very good as they have never actually provided any real help AND I've had to call them at least five or six times), and they tell me that you should never install it over 9 feet off the ground. I guess they don't like ladders. Anyway, I have to fix this somehow so that I don't have to go out and buy a ladder or hire someone every time this thing goes off-line. Surprised that Ring doesn't have a way to configure it without having to press a button there on the device. I'm thinking switching on and off five times and it goes into set up mode or something like that. Wish I had known all this before spent multiple thousands of dollars on a Ring system.
Camera is great motion activated light too sensative. I have had this device for two years now and everything about the camera is great. However the motion activation for the lights is horrible. The lights are plenty bright, no issue there. Car head lights on the road cause the light to trigger all the time. I just cannot get it adjusted to avoid these unwanted triggers. I have to turn the sensitivity down so low that it doesn’t turn on at all until I have already walked 10 feet from it. And any more sensitivity than that it gives false triggers for everything, car lights, spiders, rain, etc. It is so annoying it goes on and off all night long.

Cool features, VERY expensive, and thoroughly unreliable. This review applies both to this exact motion light, which I purchased through this exact listing, and the Ring system in general. We bought our first Ring device at Costco. Seemed like a good deal (Costco deal was definitely better deal than buying direct). We were worried about packages getting stolen from our porch on our busy street, where foot traffic is common. It worked okay, but there were quite a few times when it failed to record anything despite good internet access/wifi and strong battery. When we moved out of that rented house and into a larger home that we bought we added more devices. Two more cameras and a motion light camera. I upgraded our wifi system to a FANTASTIC Asus WiFi 6 mesh network (with three access points spread across the property; fully backwards-compatible), so now there's nowhere on our property that doesn't have a very strong wifi signal. The access points are even hard wired with CAT6E ethernet cable. 200mbps Xfinity internet that works very well for everything else. Yet Ring can't stay connected and more frequently than ever it fails to record anything. We'll get the notification of movement or the doorbell ringing but not even a thumbnail let alone video gets captured. At the same time the system is far less flexible or intelligent than competitors. Every movement of the dogs in the back yard gets reported (both back door camera and motion light). For what Ring costs (both initial purchase and subscription) it should be vastly more reliable than it is, with both local and cloud storage of captured video for redundancy, buffered uploads when there is an occasional internet access hiccup, etc. The recordings frequently start after the person who was at the door is already walking away, which makes them nearly useless even when they do work. Mind you it works at least 80-90% of the time. But failing 1 time out of 10 is TERRIBLE, especially for a device that is supposed to provide a measure of security. The management of the system is also terrible. With our Nest learning thermostat both my wife and I have full access to do anything we want. Either of us can change any settings. No limitations. With Ring one person has to have ownership of it and the other is just granted access to some things. At one point, before we added more devices, for some reason our Ring Doorbell 2 forgot all of its settings. I was at work so my wife went through the setup process again. (By the way, the app should be able to remember ALL settings and offer to apply them when such a change is made; insane to have to set everything up from scratch in this age.) But I had done it the first time, and billing was done through my account, etc. Turned into a big mess, and we weren't even replacing hardware, just trying to get it to behave the way we had set it up already. I've worked as a project manager over a team of software and web developers. I know what it looks like when your team has their act together and a system is well-designed and functions as it should. This Ring system behaves like they get an entirely new development team every couple months so no one has ever had time to actually learn how the system was originally designed. All new development seems to be just a bunch of patches and bandaids. It's an absolute joke.
2 out of 3 have been good. I have ordered three of these refurbished units over the last year. Two have been great. The latest was defective. The light would not turn off. Went through the trouble shooting process. I turned off the power and inspected the unit and found that a wire from the control unit was disconnected. Comparing it to another unit I have purchased I noticed that the loose wire was also a smaller gauge, about the gauge of a doorbell wire. It appeared that the small wire broke when crimped or was never properly crimped. Looking at other connections I notice that some had wire protruding from the crimped wire nut. Might of been a bad day where-ever they refurbished these unit. Definitely inspect these before you try installing them. Amazon was helpful in making the return. Might go for a new unit this time around as a replacement.
2nd flood lite camera that loses clarity within 2 years. I have to order another flood lite camera that faces the street mounted above my garage and sees my cars parked on my driveway. The camera is facing South and has lost clarity within 2 years. I have same camera on side of my house facing East and has not had this issue since installed in 2017.
