Pros & Cons


Working but ... Thank goodness mine is working but you have to sync manually by holding the button down(10 secs.) on the cameras until it flashes amber to add them. Had to turn off night vision for better images using the built-in spotlight. It can be a hit or miss if you buy refurbished or maybe just incorrect configuration. Sometimes app will not find the hub/camera if you have VPN on your mobile device. It has to be turned off. Update: Bought an endurance 256GB Micro SD card, you can now view the videos from the app if you are at home. Set to save on the card and got rid of my subscription. You will not get the fancier options like activity zones and intelligent recognition but still works fine. It will probably hold thousands of hours of recording before it gets full then will replace the oldest. Downside is you can only access the recordings on the SD card if you are on the same wireless network but the cloud recording still works and is good for seven days for free. Overall a very good investment.

Umm ummm ummmm … yay it works! Re: the renewed product The firmware on the base unit is probably old as sin. When you plug on the power and internet, just walk away for about 30min to an hour. It needs to do stuff in the background and download new firmware. You might think you just bought a brick but you didn’t. It just needs to update. Everything else works as expected.

Very simple to use, but also has advanced settings for those who want more. Bought and installed for someone else after a cheaper brand quit working about a year after installation. I came across these first when my landlord had them installed and was very impressed with them. The video quality, super easy setup, so many extra bonus settings you can set up if you desire, that’s what got me researching Arlo. After a couple month of looking into Arlo I decided that I was going to be my recommendation because I want to be confident in the brand I’m recommending to someone else, especially when it comes to security


Very disappointing. I wanted to love this, even with the monthly fee, but I had 4 cameras. Vision was great except when you tried to zoom in. Once you zoom in it’s grainy and you definitely can’t read license plates, let alone zoom in and see someone’s face clearly. It wouldn’t record and the motion sensors didn’t work. I didn’t get a notification until someone was at my door but the zone should have picked them up in the yard. It’s very delayed and wouldn’t get the notification until after the person was already in my house. It wouldn’t pick up any motion in the driveway by the cars or coming out of the garage. So needless to say, I have sent the cameras back. Amazon reps are wonderful but Arlo... not so much. Will look into a different product, very disappointing.

WORST customer service I’ve experienced, no exaggeration. Let me preface by saying that I consider myself fairly tech savvy and patience is one of my strong points — so to say that their customer service reps and their product pissed me off is saying a lot about how this company feels about CS. I bought a brand new Arlo Pro 4 and a Renewed arlo Ultra 4 2-camera kit from Amazon. From day 1, I was having issues with the Arlo Pro 4 getting added to my account. The renewed Ultra 4, surprisingly, had no issues whatsoever. A few weeks in I noticed that the Pro 4 was not turning on the IR leds when it went into Nightvision mode. Tried everything under the sun to get it working - restarting the camera, removing and then re-adding it to my account, flipping the Low Light Setting toggles, removing and then re-downloading the app, etc. Nothing worked I hate chatting with CS generally but I eventually acquiesced and tried their chat support. It was horrendous. They made me do the SAME thing over and over until they get to a point where they “escalate” the issue, at which point your chat ends with nothing resolved. You’re basically just assigned another representative who makes you go through the SAME things you already did THAT DIDN’T WORK if you refuse, they just end the chat and it’s back to square one. I was still within their warranty and at NO POINT did they offer a replacement. I straight up said this camera is a lemon, the IR LEDs don’t come on when it switches to nightvision mode and their response is always, “let’s restart, reboot, redownload, and re-add the camera and see if that will fix the issue”. NO, FOR THE 5TH TIME, I ALREADY DID THAT AND IT DIDNT WORK SO WHY AM I DOING IT AGAIN?! To;dr: Hate their CS. Wasted 20+ hours with incompetent representatives. I hate this company.

Do Not Buy. Don’t buy this product refurbished. The image was pixelated. The video feed was green. The item did not come with the 1 year of monitoring.
