Great portable monitor and very affordable. I’ve purchased and used a number or portable monitors. I primarily use mine for business. This monitor is a good choice and an excellent value. First impressions were based on the packaging. Very well package with every component sealed. The box includes everything needed to get connected and running. My laptop has a fully functional UCB-C. When connected, the PC recognized the monitor and the monitor display immediately came up. No external power was needed. If using the mini HDMI connection, you will need to connect the included power source to one of the two USB-C ports on the monitor. The monitor has a very nice and slim profile. The screen displayed pictures and text very well. The colors were good however, they appear muted when compared to a higher end 4K OLED screen. The screen is bright enough to work efficiently in a lit room and the screen appears to brighten further when the power supply is used as opposed to only using the USB-C power from the PC. The onboard speakers are functional but as is the case with any of these portable monitors, you will find them lacking as the primary sound media output. The included magnetic cover functions as a stand with two viewing positions and does a good job protecting the screen when stored. In addition to my PC, i was able to connect an android device with no issue. An iPhone requires a special adapter however, an iPad Pro will function with only the USB-C cable. Overall, this is a very good portable monitor and will serve you well without breaking the bank.
Perfect External Monitor for School. I purchased a KYY 4K monitor (3820x2160) for my personal use around the house or on the road (flexgate got my 2017 MacBook Pro [MBP]). But for my daughter in college, I got her this inexpensive, yet excellent monitor from the same manufacturer. Like my first KYY monitor, this one is well-built, lightweight, and simple to use for her dorm room or the library (it might be a little too much for a classroom or lecture hall). The monitor does not have an internal battery and the power cable is a little too short in my opinion; however, when I connect the included USB-C cable to her MBP, she was able to get about three hours of use before her MBP battery died (it’s an old battery). KYY’s awesome customer service reached out to me after my purchase and asked for any suggestions. I told them that I’d like to see a VESA mount for when not mobile; a longer power cord; and an internal battery. Even without these conveniences, my daughter is still able to do what she needs to do off the MBP battery. If KYY rolls out another monitor with the above features at their reasonable prices, I’ll purchase from them again.
Total game changer. I had no idea portable monitors existed until recently. I have been working from home since March 2020 with one big monitor and my laptop as a second monitor. It's been fine, but there are so many times I wish I had a third monitor. My desk is awkwardly shaped and I can't a second regular monitor in the space. However, this portable monitor, with it's cover stand, is low enough that it fits into the one space that I have. This has changed how I work. I don't have to stop to switch apps so often so I can keep in a better flow. I can keep a Slack screen up constantly and follow what's going on. If I feel like it, I can devote a screen to a video. This monitor was super easy to install. I had to go back and look at the pictures to see how to use the cover stand, but after that it was a piece of cake. The screen quality is nice. It's maybe a bit more yellow or darker than my regular monitor, but it's fine. It's not there for anything like graphic design, it's there to show written content like an inbox, Slack channel, or document. It's perfect for that. I love the idea that I could use it for other things, but so far haven't needed to. But that one time I need a portable monitor for something else, I'll be really happy I have this one.
Overall not bad, with some quirks. UPDATE: Kathy was extremely helpful in getting the issue resolved. She made this customer extremely appreciative and happy! 5-Stars on customer service. I travel a lot for work, so I needed something light and easy to carry. This fits the size and weight requirements. The picture quality is good, the unit is easy to put in a laptop bag, and the single USB-C cable was a plus for data and power. However, no matter what I tried, the phone will not see this as an external display. I have a Google Pixel 5a, maybe the phone is the issue, but I can't find how the phone is the issue. Recently, the USB-C ports stopped working. I have replaced the cable, and still no luck in getting it to work. I am now connected via the HDMI cable with the power cord to get it to work. Summary. Until this issue has been rectified, I can't recommend this to any one. I will reach out to the seller to see if they can replace the unit. I will update this review once I have more information.
PERFECT for reading/ writing/ doing research -- Grad student must have! I swore that I would never be one who needed more than one monitor until my school office provided me with two of them for my desk. I was looking for a portable alternative to use with my laptop and this has been exactly what I have needed. It came recommended in an online FB PhD group, as it makes doing research and writing much easier when at home or even out and about - such as the library or at a coffee shop. It does not require additional electricity to work - just plug into your laptop and go. The screen size is great, clear picture, and very streamlined in nature. It sets up easy and works well at both home and when I need the flexibility of having a 2nd monitor when I'm not at the office. It makes reading/ writing/ doing research so much easier --- not to mention grading... Such a brilliant product and worth every single penny!
Great customer service! I bought this 11/21. The picture quality is great and bright, but the speakers are so low you can't hear them unless there is absolutely no other sound in the room. The most awful speakers I've ever heard. If I breathe heavy it drowns out the sound. After about 6 months the HDMI connection got loose. I could use it, but I had to jiggle it around to find the right spot. Well, now, Not even a year later (8/22),the connector stopped working completely. It feels like the solder joint broke off. And the monitor is sealed with apparently no way to open it, so it's useless to me now. It's a shame, I really enjoyed using it, it has a great picture and is extremely light and portable. Update 8/25 Customer service saw my review and are sending me a new monitor! (the warranty was for a year) The rep was really helpful and nice. I just had to send in a video showing the defect to the monitor.
Cons
Mediocre screen. Mediocre screen, with absolutely terrible sound. If you are not two feet away from it, you can't hear anything. If you don't need it for sound, then it'll get the job done as a budget level screen. Menu functions also not very user friendly, and the volume buttons on the side have a tendency to be resigned upon entry and exit of the menu. Powering down the screen seems to correct this, but I find it quite tedious. One pro, it's relatively slim, and the included magnetic cover is a plus.
Great extra monitor! if you can win the lottery and get the correct color. I found myself needing an extra screen for my laptop. I am spoiled at home with multiple monitors but when I travel working from just the laptops one screen was just not cutting it. I ordered this monitor based on reviews, specifications, and a solid price point of $150. I ordered a black one to match my laptop set up and two days later my product was on my doorstep. (gotta love Prime shipping) I open the package and find it is a light grey one! I figure it was just a simple mistake and process a return/replace with the same item, noting that I had received a grey one and not the black item I had ordered. I rarely have problems ordering from Amazon but hey, it happens, no big deal. processing return went smooth and easy, and two days later my item is on my doorstep. I open the package and find A GREY ONE! At this point I search the box and nowhere can I find an indication of color on the outside of the box other than the picture on the front that is in fact, a black one! I call Amazon customer support and after about 10 minutes I am told that since the item is sold by a third-party seller Amazon is only authorized to process a replacement one time. I was offered to return the item for a full refund and once that process was completed I could place a separate order for the third attempt at a black one. I decided to just live with a grey one as that process was just not worth going through to end up with a third grey one... I plugged it in and it works great! The picture quality is very nice, it is 1080p so I didn't expect a 4k resolution wow factor, but it was impressive! nice color and brightness. appears to be well made and has a quality feel to the case and the monitor. Power and data over one USB-C cable make for a clean and easy addition to my traveling workstation, with my black laptop... and a very LIGHT GREY monitor :/ I would recommend this product, if you don't mind the color grey.
Decent, but not great. Monitor seemed pretty decent and actually had good brightness but mostly when using the HDR mode. In SDR mode it was a bit dull looking in brightness and color was really lacking.
Default cables can't hold up. With its stock cables I tried plugging in my Switch and I'll tell ya, nothing. It didn't turn on or responded to my Switch. The screen turned on and then black, none of the screen button functioned. I didn't try it with other cords cuz why??? When they already provided you with the necessary cables.
Does NOT work with Xbox One S. 3 Stars because this monitor looked and worked great with my Samsung S21 and the price. The cover/stand is cheap, could use stronger magnets as it easily and annoyingly detaches from the monitor while closing, positioning, handling, etc. The main reason I purchased this monitor was to use with my Xbox One S, more specifically, Sims 4. This monitor was truly unusable with the Xbox. The picture was that bad, I couldn't read words on the screen as it was too blurry. No lag time which was nice but I could not use this monitor with that poor image quality. I even swapped out HDMI cables JIC it was my cable but nope. Also, very limited screen adjustments offered which really had no effect on the picture and the physical dial/wheel/button you have to use to cycle through the menu is a total PITA. But 3 stars for price, packaging, contents and the potential it has with other devices.
not worth it. This thing works fine but I have issues connecting with the HDMI. It's already loose after only having it for a few months and I have to constantly adjust the cord so it stays in and stays connected to my computer. Idk maybe it is not meant to use with an older model computer it's so much hassle to secure it. I use it at work and the computers there are not exactly new. so I can't use the usb-c cord and even though I try converters it won't connect to my work computer without the HDMI and the HDMI connector is loose on the monitor. get something quality not this.
