Pros & Cons

Pros

Awesome. Just awesome. Very affordable mini gaming PC, I have played league of legends with maxed out graphics no problem. I mainly hand dragon ball fighterz on it. One of my proudest purchases most recently.

Died! 4 months old; device sent after weeks without = much lessor model!!!!! Four months in - prior to the event I am about to describe I was superbly pleased with this device. Alas, not forever as without explanation, rationale, reason, notice, or anything ELSE, this computer died and will not power on again. Connected through a surge protector; all other devices fine; no electrical storm or surge activity whatever. Desperate emails to seller have had ZERO result. None. So….I have a nice paperweight, even though by all legality and rationality this thing should still be within a reasonable 1 yr or even 6 mo warranty. Awful. Update: Ten days into device death, I am now without the dead device, without ANY device, and still out the funds to purchase. I shipped to the seller Dec 17...and no word yet despite FedEx confirming delivery. Frankly, my next stop is to go to a certain card issue with a Roman on the front...platinum, no less, and simply demand full recourse AND that the seller be barred from taking that card forever. The time this has taken is abysmal. If I could rate LOWER than one star I would. Update 27 Dec: New device arrived today, powers up well...but with ONE small problem. The processor within the new device is NOT what I bought (the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G) but the lessor AMD Ryzen V1605B series. The latter is much slower (2.0 gHz clock speed vs 3.6) and bears substantially lower benchmarks than what I bought. I have offered to accept a memory upgrade to 32 gB to compensate for the diminished value of the exchange - I am "without" for two full weeks now! We will see, I will update when I learn more. For now, we stay at 1 star until resolution is obtained. Update 28 December: Attempts to contact Jack's Shop were useless, and indeed, this entity processed utterly without consent a refund for some $20 to account for the difference in product originally purchased versus device in hand now. I was willing to simply accept a new, proper, device (with the caveat that I ship back the substitute AFTER I received the replacement). Amazon, however, has done more than the right thing in refunding the original purchase price (less the $20) to make me whole. The rating provided thus reflects a blend of what I think about the device in hand (3 stars), what I bought (4 stars), Jack's Shop (0 stars, and yes, I know...), and Amazon itself (5 stars). This has been agony, frankly, and while Christmas impacted the ship-back, the device substitution followed by an arrogant approach from Jack's Shop itself was the real sticky-wicket. Kudos to Amazon for making this more than right.

Follow the instructions in the Email they send you before doing anything! So far this is quite, fantastic 4K images, and fast. Set-up was frustrating as it auto connected to the internet and then required a work or student account. Contacted the seller, they provided a solution that worked perfectly! The only thing hated is Windows 11 tries to force only Microsoft apps. You have turn off the firewall and Microsoft antivirus to load anything. Recommend replace this as soon as you can with a real anti-virus malware app as Microsoft will permanently delete your application set-up files from your set-up location or drive. Microsoft doesn't want you to use anything which is anything not Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft is not a preferred operating system. Microsoft is to intrusive and a bully these days. You can set this PC up without connecting to a Microsoft account which is highly recommended to keep priority business work private. The only reason to keep Microsoft is because some apps require it to work, else it would be ditched because of its attempts to force only Microsoft products and Microsoft tries to control everything you do including wiping out your application setup files. So make sure you back up all of your set up files before trying to add them to this machine. Make sure you turn off Windows Firewall and Microsoft Anti-virus before trying to install any applications. Install your applications, load a real antivirus software like Vipre or other, run a scan, make sure you new anti-virus is functional and you should be good to go except turning off Microsoft annoying attempts to get you to log into a Microsoft account, very annoying!

Impressed so far. This is an early review after a couple days of use. I got this for a few reasons. One is to consolidate and replace 3 aging large tower desktops into a much smaller footprint. On that note, this thing is so little and I can't believe how much power they can pack into such a small package. I will say that I don't use it for gaming. This is my computer to plug into a TV so I can do web, email, music, those kinds of things. I'd have to imagine it can at least do things like League of Legends, Minecraft, Roblox, since my 12 year old computer could, but I couldn't tell you for sure. I'd also guess, moving on from an AMD Athlon 5350, that this would be a capable 4K HTPC, but I'm also not using it for that, just basing it on experience. Two is that the cost of the UM340 was too attractive to pass up for what it comes with. Ryzen 5, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, USB 3.2, external power supply. All this for under $500, still hard to believe. Third was because there was no chance my old desktops were going to go to Windows 11, at least not without some hack workarounds that I didn't want to force, and I wanted something that (for what I use it for at least) will last me 5+ years. The hardware in this qualifies as far as I know and the MINISFORUM web site says so as well. However, the bios for the UM340 is still in progress. I will have to put my faith in them releasing it eventually. I don't want to upgrade right now anyway, but let Microsoft work some of the early bugs out first, especially with Ryzen chips. Using it so far... It's very snappy. Boots up fast. Quiet unless you put your ear up to it. Windows 10 was ready to go. Super easy to install a 2.5" drive in the lid and the SATA plug was sitting there waiting. I went with a 7mm 2 TB drive. I don't know if a 15mm will fit. Only has one blue light on the front power button. Not super bright, but would definitely show up in a dark home theater. It runs around 38-40 C idle, around 50-55 C when doing common stuff, and the highest I've seen it jump to is 73 C when it was really busy, I think while installing AMD video drivers. I'm loving it so far, let's hope it lasts me a long time.

Hardware as described. Hardware shipped was exactly as described including all cables and screws. The box was marked as having 1, 16GB SO-DIMM, but the PC has 2, 8GB SO-DIMMs as described. The firmware ships with Secure Boot off but available. This is my first AMD system in a long time but there appears to be a full set of options inside. I got into the firmware without fail with "Del" and was able to easily boot Clonezilla off a USB stick to clone a virgin drive image before ever running off the internal drive. Overnight memory testing showed no trouble. The case is actively cooled, as needed, on the bottom. I question whether adding an optional SATA drive on top is a good idea: it would take away the dead space above the RAM and SSD heat sink which, while not ventilated, have to be better for them than another hot component nearly touching them. But it's great that the option is there Shipped with Windows 11 Pro 21H2, not Windows 10 Pro as described. I don't yet know if this will be a problem for me.. The license agreement allows for downgrading if it is. I was able to set up with a local account (standard trick of simply not connecting to network during initial setup) but now I have to see what Windows 11 equivalents there are for various setup scripts found by searching for "un**** win10". It's slightly below 5 stars for this reason, but unless something else comes up I'm rounding up rather than down to 4.

Amazing Little Powerhouse. Fantastic computing power and speed for the money. Smooth quick set-up out of the box. Mine Came with Win 10 Home, and offered a one time opportunity to upgrade to Win 11 Home. I did it. Win 11 works great. The Windows setup was mere minutes; unlike other versions I have used. I’ve been buying computers since 1983; from 8088’s on. I’ll most likely continue my purchases in this mini-form. Computers are about processor, RAM, storage, connectivity, and upgradability. This one has it all. A month in, I have maxed out RAM to 64GB 62GB free; 2 GB VRAM.). I also added a 2T SSD (cable included.). The weakest point is upgradability. It would be less expensive to buy a new unit than to upgrade the processor; and an external video card is not currently possible. When maxed out, a 4 core processor, 62GB RAM, 2GB VRAM, and 2.5GB storage does more than everything most need or want. If I had a do-over on the RAM, I’d only have purchased 32GB (2X16GB). I do alot of image and video rendering, and the RAM above 32GB doesn’t help me. You could keep more windows open, but I never do. I modified the mounting to fit my needs. My monitor is mounted to a flex-arm. I added 2 arms to those brackets in order to mount the computer with the included mounting bracket. (See Image) COOFUN —-Who? —- I’d buy this brand again. Jack’shop —- I’d buy from them again too. —- They provide a quality product. Wish I had had the money for their Ryzen 9, 8 core but money is what it is.

Cons

Windows 11 Only - No Windows 10 Onboard...Clock Speed Really 2.1 GHz and 3.7 GHz in Boost Mode. I got this rebadged model after buying Minisforum model for a relative. I was really impressed with the size and power in such a small package. For family, school, and work use it’s great. Good for web gaming too but not AAA games. SSD and DDD4 ram makes this a quick machine with startup to desktop under 30 seconds. CON: 1) It was advertised with choice of Windows 10 or 11. Not exactly true. The unit only comes with Windows 11. To install Windows 10 you have to go Minisforum website (China) and download a 9 GB .RAR file. Install an app to unzip it and another app to set up a bootable USB drive with the ISO file. I have doubts about the version not being China Windows edition with built in monitoring software or worse. Process not for normies like grandma...pass. Windows 11 will add a 10% performance hit on your system so I upgraded the ram to 32 GB 2666 Mhz DDR4. 2) Clock speed of chip advertised at 3.7 Ghz. Sort of...the chip cruises at 2.1 GHz to keep heat down and uses boost mode when it needs the extra speed. This info should be more upfront. No easy option to stop seeing Coofun rebadge logo coming up every boot. Don’t need to be reminded I’m buying a rebadged model. 3) Lastly, it was a two day shipping despite it being advertised as overnight. Our old Dell was done and we had work to do and needed a good cheap, PC by weekend. If not for the urgency, I would have returned it for a Windows 10 Minisforum...a real one. Our older tiny model was a better experience with choice of Windows 10 or 11 already on the machine ready to go. I’ve installed malware and virus scanners to ease my doubts of foreign influences. I would be cautious before buying rebadged PC.

Not windows 11 compatible as stated it is. well have tried to get info on this for a while, but seems to get no where but as you see in the image the processor on the device is not Windows 11 compatible, I do believe this item states it's ready for a windows 11 update but when you try it says it's not compatible as shown in the image. I have updated all the drivers as it gives the possibility to be updated and yet no chance yet, says it is not compatible.

Great except adding an extra HD. Good product except attaching rhe cable for adding an extra hard drive is very hard.

Hibernate mode disabled; USB wireless mouse receiver interference. Like the size, and ease to connect. Problems: 1. Does not default to hibernate mode enabled. Have to search online to reprogram, waste of time! 2. Bluetooth mouse wireless receiver gets interfered by electronics. I had to buy a USB extension to place mouse receiver far away from the box.

Gigabit port not working - Refund? Still waiting... I had hopes for this unit. Everything worked except the RJ45 port. I tested it with different cables that I unplugged from working units. I followed their instructions to download the Intel driver set and instal the. I even reinstalled windows and tested a live linux mint. I told them its a physical issue, not drivers. All drivers look ok. ThenIm told to let thembackdoor in... ummm If I cant connect via my cat cable to the net, how are youcoming in? I returned the item on the 8th, couple days after receivingit and wasting hours. They received it on the 14th. Today is Decembe1 and still waiting. I did purchase another like unit from another vendor on the 11th and so far is working fine.

Bad product. Pc died after a few months of use. Call the support line. Wrong number. Emailed them two times. No response
