Pros & Cons

Not a fake. Built like a tank. Luckily I received a real X300UA. The label was on the bottom of the package. The battery compartment had the correct surefire engraving. The battery release button was not protruding. Slashers were on the battery door. 100% real This light Is a tank and am happy to own another one. I used this light in Afghanistan on my M4 and it was "OK" as a rifle light but is definitely more suited for use on a pistol. The light I used overseas took a 7.62 round right through the bezel but didnt hit the bulb so i actually still used it for another few weeks until it just stopped coming on. Like I said built like a tank!

Awesome light. There's a reason these lights are so popular. I have nothing but good things to say about the light itself. Ordering from Amazon was a little sketchy though. Even though I got mine sold/shipped by Amazon (not a third-party seller) it still came with a damaged switch that looked like it was pried on with pliers that tore up the plastic paddles. The light also appeared to be counterfeit. Wrong type of barcode, wrong logo printing on the side, wrong switch paddles, wrong battery compartment sticker, too dim, machined corners too sharp, etc etc. Thankfully, Amazon replaced the defective item and now the replacement I received is a genuine SureFire. The packaging on the first one was genuine so it must have been a previously returned item. A little disappointed that I had to go through that, but at least Amazon made it right in the end! It's 100% dependable gear that will work when you need it, just make sure you carefully inspect your light when you receive it to make sure it's genuine!

Super happy with my purchase. Coming from a $50 tactical light I once owned for a different firearm about 10 years ago, this is a huge upgrade. Many people recommended the TLR, but for some reason, I think this one just looked better on my Glock 19 and the fact you’re able to simply snap it on vs screwing it on, was probably my biggest selling point. However, you have to be sure you’re buying the snapping/clipping Surefire X300 because they make both and I accidentally purchased the screwing one the first time. Needless to say, I’m not a fan. The TLR is half the price but for some reason, I don’t like the design. So for me, I dislike the screwing part and the aesthetic’s of the TLR. However, I do like the strobing feature, something the Surefire doesn’t have.

Tried and True Workhorse. I still have not found a more tried and true light for my G17 than this . Sure the new Cloud or Modlite pistol lights probably are better but they damn sure aren't more tried an true than X300U. The X300U is the Colt M4A1 on pistol lights . No thrills or frills white light that just gets the job done and can count on it in harm's way ..

This is awesome. I needed a light for my job so I ordered this one. Well worth the money. It is used every night and is very bright. It is durable and is very good quality. I would highly recommend it. It even came with the battery. I have used it every night and very often and the battery is still going strong.

Crazy bright. On a full size xd, super bright ...

BUYER BEWARE! I purchased what I was lead to believe, was a 1,000 Lumen Surefire X300U pistol light. It was to be an upgrade for the 500 Lumen X300U, that I already have. When opening the packaging, I found it easy to open, not sealed at all, like normal packaging from Surefire. Upon pulling the light out, I also found that the two 123A batteries were missing. While disappointed, I was okay, as I have plenty of spares. I inserted two new batteries, and tested the new 1,000 Lumen X300U, with dismal results. I pulled the old X300U off my pistol and tested them side-by-side. Sure enough, my old light was brighter, and with a better beam. So, I switched batteries between the lights and tested again, same disappointing results. I then grabbed my 1,000 Lumen Surefire P3X Fury, and tested it side-by-side with the new X300U. As you can see from the images, this new X300U ia NOT 1,000 Lumens as advertised. Before posting this review, I had already called Amazon Customer Service, and got a return shipping label. I have learned my lesson. If I am going to get gear that my life, or those I care about depend on, I will get on my feet and go to the gun shop, or go straight to the manufacturer and get my equipment. The 1-Star rating is ONLY because Amazon required me to rate the item. Thank you for wasting my time. Thank you to Amazon Customer Service for handling this situation so quickly and respectfully.

Unsatisfactory condition. I had hoped by now the issues with this product would have been worked out, but I guess not... when I opened the Amazon box, I could immediately tell I was receiving a returned product, as the packaging was damaged from where someone had opened it before me. Willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, I opened the packaging to find what appeared to be a somewhat used light, as it had several wear marks on it. I'm not a surefire expert whatsoever but it also looked/felt a little like one of the aforementioned knock-offs that earlier reviews mentioned. I generally have no issue with surefire products but this just didnt seem satisfactory to me for the price, albeit a good deal if I had actually received a new genuine product.

Used and possible fake. I received this light in a damaged box and it’s clearly been used and abused. It had multiple scratches on it and for some reason just doesn’t feel like the usual top quality of Surefire. The light even came with batteries from stream light and not surefire. I’m not even sure if this is a legit surefire or a fake. It’s going right back for a refund and not purchasing again.

SureFire Quality Control. I’ve been brand loyal to SureFire for many years. I recently purchased a SureFire E2D Defender ($173) and was satisfied with the performance. Shortly after I purchased a OLIGHT M2R Pro Warrior ($110) same quality built as the SureFire, higher output, and rechargeable battery. As I was looking for a new weapon light I did not hesitate to go with the X300. I was concerned with some of the negative reviews but since I have never had a bad experience with SureFire I went ahead with the purchase. Today the light arrive and the package and everything looked perfect except the “momentary-on” switch was catching and therefore it was either “constant-on” or nothing. Very disappointing to see a basic feature of this product pass through quality control at $270 cost. Needless to say, I am returning and replacing with OLIGHT Baldr Pro. Just like the handheld, it has a higher output with built in green laser and for $150. I am sorry to see SureFire lose their way when it comes to quality, features, and value.

It's ok. Really not impressed, but I had to get it since it's popular and people actually make holsters for it. I don't like how the switch rotates to turn on, how you can't turn it on temporarily, how it is max brightness all the time. I prefer Olights, maybe they're not as high quality, but I'm not some spec ops super swat who beats terrorists to death with a flashlight. They work, and offer more function for less money. Edit: I found out how to turn it on momentarily, still prefer the Olight.

Add another fake to the list.. Got mine today and immediately realized it was fake. The controls are super stiff and cheap feeling and the unit only has a constant on function. Once that got my attention I realized that the lettering is blurred and sloppy. Amazon is sending a replacement so fingers crossed the next one I get is legit. Unfortunately this makes 3 fakes out of the 5 high end products I've attempted to purchase from Amazon. I love the convenience but its becoming more trouble than it's worth..
