Pros

The smartest vacuum ever! My wife and I are in the process of 'smart-tizing' our new home; so, of course, we needed to invest in a robot vacuum. After 'some' research, we initially bought the Shark IQ (more like low-IQ) - disastrous...didn't function as a vacuum or a robot; didn't vacuum anything (lint, hair, dust), and couldn't map the room or find its station...it was like a lost dog roaming around in circles, bumping into walls. Needless to say, we returned it. Subsequently, my wife and I did A LOT more research - Reddit posts, endless YouTube videos, tech reviews, etc...stumbling upon this lesser-known robot - Roborock S6. In that it was only offered for sale via Amazon or eBay, we were a bit skeptical, but the reviews were unanimous...excellent performance. Enter the S6. Due to our previous experience, I was leery out of the box, nervously syncing the bot to app and network. I have to say, despite a recurring error (5) within the first few days (resolved, see below) and a less-polished app, the robot is amazing. It mapped our entire upstairs (600 sq ft) in 1 run, and vacuumed the carpet (all carpeted floors) impressively. It runs in complete darkness due to its laser optics which is one of the lesser-known perks; should be one of the more marketed features, as a robot is supposed to function unattended - often times when home is vacant and dark! Absolutely love it! For the price and the performance, this is a must-buy for robot vacuum shoppers! Now, I need to mention several of out-fo-the-box cons; one of which has been resolved, the other, from what I hear, will be resolved, the last of which may be resolved with help of Amazon (Alexa) and app dev: 1. Error 5...error 5...error 5. This was a recurring theme within the first few days. The robot would stop completely, notify via audible voice from robot itself and app. Error 5 occurs when the main brush becomes jammed, prompting the user to 'un-jam'...which is actually quite easy; but, this required constant attention. Now, you could override this by simply resuming remotely, but the user wouldn't know if the brush was truly jammed. Most of the times, the brush was indeed jammed with hair that had gotten tangled mostly in the space between the axle and rotor fittings. It occurred so regularly that my heart began to sink because I feared I'd need to return a robot that I loved for all other reasons. I did try to rectify initially with vinyl electrical tape to better seal said gap to prevent entanglement; but, that only delayed the inevitable error 5. But, wait! After researching online, I learned there is a 'Carpet Mode' in the app’s peripheral vacuum settings that, when activated, supposedly enables maximum suction and main brush roller agitation upon sensing carpeting. After activating, I was a bit nervous; but, lo and behold, the darned function worked...and resolved the issue...no more error 5...and no more tangles! Amazing! I understand why this carpet mode is a selection and not a default mode…higher suction and more vigorous brush action requires more battery which is less economical; however, in that the robot has an automatic recharge and resume function that resumes right where it left off after charging in addition to the battery life being one of the largest of the robots we’d researched (5200mAh), I’d suggest having this carpet mode engaged by default. 2. The less-refined Roborock app. Now, I know there is an alternative Mi-home app that's a universal smart app for multiple devices from a third party that has more features; but, I wanted to stick with the manufacturer-sponsored app. This is a Chinese product; so, there are a few English-based grammatical errors you'd expect from non-native speakers...those are trivial. My biggest gripes are the layout itself, the clunkiness of the mapping, and lack of storing multiple floor maps. First, the layout, some menu items (like the schedule /timer or the aforementioned carpet mode) that are buried in places that should be more prominent as they're features that are more routinely used. Second, the mapping system. Again, part of this is the function that actually enables map memory is a toggle that actively needs to be selected by the user, and is located in a peripheral menu. Why is this not just natively enabled by default? It does, in its current state, save multiple back-up versions of the map in case the user accidentally deletes or needs to redo an edit. Speaking of the edit, the editing needs to be refined. Currently, the edit modes are partitioned into ‘room’, ‘no-go’ and ‘entire map’ - this could easily be integrated into one edit menu. Also, even though the map can be partitioned into sections, there is no way to label/name each section which may be nice with things like Alexa. Speaking of partitions...when the original run that maps is complete, the robot’s algorithm tries its hardest to define sections; but, we needed to refine it. The split function to manually separate sections is a bit wonky…it ultimately worked; but, took several edit retries. Now, all these things re. app being said, I’ve read from 2020 CES reports, Roborock is working to polish and improve their app, specifically enabling the ability to map and memorize multiple floors. This would be great, as we would love to be able to have our robot vacuum and mop (yes, there is a mop function) both floors. 3. This is the least important; even though Alexa is a big part of the routines governing other sections of the house. Alexa seems to have limited functionality with the Roborock app skill enabled…allowing simple vocal commands like clean (entire house), stop, return to station. I have yet to be able to have Alexa recognize the device so that routines can be enabled. I’ve had no trouble finding my other 20+ devices. This has been reported to be an app issue. It would also be nice, as stated earlier, to be able to label the rooms by name, and then be able to vocally request Alexa to have the robot to clean certain rooms / sections. Anyway, overall, this is an exceptional robot that does everything it advertises. We love it, and highly recommend it!

Still cleaning since 9/2019, 3-4 times per week. ORIGINAL REVIEW 09/23/2019 I have owned Eufy 30c and Eufy L80 robotic vacuum cleaners. This one blows both out of the water overall and i'm about to tell you why. THIS ROBOT: - Has never been stuck on a cable or powerchord even when it runs over them while cleaning. - Picks up the most dirt out of carpets of the three I have used as well as hard floors and their crevices. - Climbs the highest changes in elevation in my home without ever getting hung up (this initially was a big selling point for me due to having a steep for transition between the addition on the house and the original. - Quietest vacuum cleaner i have ever used. So quiet that i don't notice it in the mornings when it cleans the two main entryways and kitchen in our house before we get up. I noticed the previous robotic vacuums i owned. - App is well designed and easy to use. I appreciate the extra options like scheduling to clean only certain rooms on certain days, virtual no-go zones, or virtual boundary lines. - Side brush has a variable speed motor that turns off when it senses too much resistance to rotate the brush - this is intentional to reduce wear or damage. - Flexible Silicon side brush cleans crevices and doesn't throw dirt everywhere like bristle brushes do. - Roller brush never gets hair wrapped around it (how this works is beyond me, i just know i have yet to remove and clean the hair from the brush since i bought it). - Mop feature works well with this vacuum and has disposable mop pads. - Came with a second washable filter - Cleans quickly - Long battery life - Many settings to toy with if you choose but not necessary, i just enjoy having options - "Go there" option with spot clean for quick mess cleanup - Brilliant navigation logic and technology DRAWBACKS: - $600 pricetag, yet, nothing can touch its value for the money (see irobot) - Cannot think of anymore, only owned for 2 months, will update as drawbacks become more apparent. - Can be difficult to locate genuine replacement parts in USA. OVERALL, I believe that this automated vacuum is currently the best value or the "sweet spot" in the robotic vacuum market. The most important thing to me was simply that i did not receive "roller brush is stuck" or "wheels are suspended, please relocate" or any errors while I am at work. I wanted something that cleans as well as my upright vacuum cleaner but can clean everything while i am away. I like to come home to a clean home. I can't say enough good things about this vacuum cleaner. UPDATE 5/24/2020 I bought a replacement roller brush from ebay and found it to be inferior in quality and durability (soft plastic flaps that tore easily and bristle density is almost literally 50% of what the original is). The brush also tangles with a lot of hair and i notice vibration noise which to me says "not a perfect fit, bad tolerance on the bushing and/or drive end. All of these symptoms go away once i switch the roller brush back to my original one. I contacted Xiaomi directly (customer service for Roborock) for a recommended seller to buy the original roller brush from, and they told me they would send me a new one directly. Now THAT is customer service. Wish i could rate them 6 Stars for going above and beyond. Xiaomi is the Apple of China. They regularly put out firmware updates for the S6. I just installed one only a week ago. I Appreciate a company that maintains their products even after the sale and Doesn't charge the customer for it. This gives me confidence in their company makes me feel taken care of. Also, the robot still cleans like a boss :D UPDATE 4/10/2021 Robot is STILL cleaning like a champ. No issues with performance, things are as expected; general maintenance like cleaning brushes and filters. My reason for a new update is this: The new American English voice that was installed with the recent firmware update is HORRENDOUS!!! It sounds like a Woman badly attempting to sound like a man and mixing in Goofy and Sesame Street all at the same time. It's almost as though they interviewed voices and selected the worst possible candidate. I LOATH this new voice over update and really wish they would at the very least GIVE ME THE OPTION TO SELECT WHICH AMERICAN VOICE I WANT. I have to listen to this 3-4 times per week and am woken up by this.... this....Atrocity! lol The new English voice over is so bad to me that it is cringe-worthy. For now, I am switching it to Chinese and learning a little Mandarin JUST TO NOT HEAR this disgusting English voice over! The odd thing is, the voice over option in the app sounds okay, but for some reason when it is talking through the robot vacuum's speaking, it sounds so disgusting. It this intentional? Am I losing my mind? Yes, maybe, but they also could have left in the other voice option for English. They have ten, yes 10, voice options in mandarin Chinese or Cantonese but only 1 single option for English?!? this is ridiculous. Beyond the silly voice prompt complaint, this product is awesome and I would strongly recommend it to anyone as the top value smart robot vacuum cleaner out there. Good job on this product Xiaomi & team. UPDATE 07/05/2021 I found a supplier on Amazon who finally sells OEM roller brushes for this. I was so happy because this means the robot vacuum cleans just as well as the day I bought it 2 years ago in 2019. My wife and I started to use the mopping feature more often with just a drop of dish soap. We now walk barefoot around the entire house. We mostly have hard wood floors and tile.

So Smart! We've had a Roomba for a few years, never impressed us very much and got relegated to a basement area. Having waited for the tech to improve we were none the less hesitant to buy again, and did more careful shopping, and found this Roborok Q7 Max. Wow is the appropriate word here! I was first impressed by how, the first time out, it just drove around and mapped our entire house! Then, I really liked how I could use the app to section the house map into rooms, even naming them! Next off, we just let it clean every room on its own. It did! and it found it's charging base, emptied it's bag and announced it was done! You can hear it increase and decrease the suction power depending upon the surface type, and it does our carpet just as well as it does our tiled floors. I don't know who programmed the cleaning algorithm, but I will swear that if it sees my feet in the kitchen, it will leave that room for later and come back to it when I am not in there! And it avoids our open stairway to the basement without a problem. The only (slight) wish for improvement would be to have a base bag that was zippered to be able to empty, rinse and use again. But the replacement bags aren't that dear. I am sometimes still drawn to watching it work through some of the complex areas around our furniture. We are thoroughly happy with this autonomous vacuum cleaner!

We named her GlaDos, she talks with her friend Alexa and they both LOOOVE humans! I'm pretty sure she talks to Alexa and the two of then are plotting to take over the world and enslave humanity. Good thing a good USB cable can easily put a stop to their plans... Seriously I was AMAZED how good this cleaning robot was. I've always been skeptical about cleaning robots aimlessly bumping about the house all day "cleaning." However there is a HUGE difference between a robot that cleans aimlessly and one that cleans methodically. This robot is the later. Even when I heard that it is a methodical cleaning, I was highly skeptical about its capabilities. I figured it'd get lost, get stuck, become trapped and die not being able to go back to its charger, etc. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! The robot works by spinning a laser on its head that maps out its surroundings and crates a map of your home. The laser is surprisingly accurate, I can see individual chair legs and sofa legs of my furniture on the map. It then rolls around your home creating a physical border that defines the rooms. It then "fills in" the map area in sections with consistent back and forth runs. The best feature of the robot is that it's surprisingly smart in its path-finding. It doesn't just reject an area as soon as it bumps into something like chair leg or even a wayward movable object. It tries to CIRCLE around the obstruction. The difference is that it squeezes itself into the nooks and crannies of hard to reach objects to clean them instead of just leaving them blank. The first time my robot bumped into my chair leg, I thought "Oh great" it'll think that it's a wall and nothing under the chair will be cleaned." Instead it kept probing itself around the leg and eventually squeezed itself between the chair legs and cleaned underneath the seat. Furthermore, the chair was next to a row of other bar stools creating a tunnel of legs and the robot squeezed itself between all the legs and cleaned underneath them. It astonished me even more that it found its way back out of the tunnel of legs and back onto its route!!! I'm constantly expecting it to get stuck somewhere and get lost leaving entire areas of my home uncleaned but so far it has not happened. It even works on my rugs (low to medium pile carpets) quite well - going from carpet to hardwood floor with ease. Others have complained about carpet use but so far it's not been a problem for me. The only problem I've had so far was that it can't cross the bit of marble floor stop that separates my living room from the bathroom. The floor stop seems to be too high for it to climb over. Finally it does not do well with cables and wires. Loose charging USB phone cables and extension chords get tangled in its rollers and once I found it back at its charging station with an iPhone USB charger stuck inside. It dragged the cable around the entire apartment. I've learned to secure loose cables so they don't get in the way. It is a vacuum after all and all vacuums' weaknesses are loose cables. Additionally I've noticed since it maps with a laser, I have a floor mirror that reflects the light. My robot thinks my floor mirror is a magical portal to a new dimension. Noise is surprisingly quiet. I was expecting a hive of angry bees but it's a dim hum. There's not even a huge difference between the "balanced" and "max" speeds. I actually fell asleep once while it was cleaning. In terms of suction, it's not as good as a dedicated vacuum like a Dyson. I've tested by throwing a few torn pieces of tissue paper next to it while it was running. The tissue paper didn't get sucked up. It only sucks up items right underneath it, which is find considering it runs in tight parallel lines around your home for max coverage. The app and Alexa integration is also great. I set biweekly cleaning schedules when I'm not home to maintain a high level of cleanliness. It's so smart and dependable that I feel comfortable with it running without any monitoring. I can be at work and track its progress on my phone. I can also tell it to clean a specific area on the phone app, draw a do not enter area, or divide the apartment by rooms to clean a specific room. Finally the Alexa integration is also great, I can easily tell Alexa to clean the apartment. It also has a great spot cleaning feature where you pick up the robot, and clean the spot-cleaning button and it will clean a small area where it was placed. I have not tried the mopping feature yet. By most review accounts it's not great as it just drags a wet rag around the room. It also doesn't stop on carpets so you'll get a wet carpet from using it. I'm not expecting much but I primarily use it for vacuuming anyways. If you're looking for a robot vacuum, I wholeheartedly recommend this! This is so much better than "dumb" robots that bump around randomly. Cleaning my 780 square foot apartment takes approximately 45-50 minutes which is surprisingly fast and took only 35-40% of my battery. Every time it runs, I'm constantly surprised by how effortless and smart the path-finding is. Until now I was never a believer of artificial intelligence but I am now! Works Great! Very Fast and Efficient Cleaning Once It Learns Your House! This review is based on a replacement unit I received which is functioning properly overall. Their customer service is great from Roborock. The Good: It seems the robot can operate in the dark unlike the iRobot competitor which uses a visible light camera to navigate around. The Roborock uses a laser guidance system which operates in pitch black rooms. This is great because who leaves their lights on in the closets or under the beds? The unit brilliantly maps out the whole house and remembers it for future cleanings. This can be viewed in the mobile app, and you can even edit the map to section off the house into rooms as well as draw no go zones. The suction is pretty decent, but it isn't as good as a big vacuum of course. It doesn't need too much suction if it runs daily keeping the dust and debris picked up, so nothing should get down deep. It picks up pet fur OK, but I think with larger pets, it will need a much larger dust bin in a larger house. I have a 3000SF house, and the robot takes 1.5 charges to clean the whole house. Basically on it's initial voyage from 100% battery, it will clean about 75-80% of my house before going back for a charge at 20% battery. Once at 80% battery, it will deploy again to finish where it left off. My house has medium pile carpets in the 4 bedrooms, and there is hard floor everywhere else in the house. It comes with two washable filters and two washable mop pads. The reuse of filters is nice, and the mopping is OK for maintenance cleaning of the hard floors. It is best to mop by hand first, and do not expect it to clean up big sticky messes for you. It essentially wets the mop pad and drags it around to unstick any latent dust that is resistant to vacuuming. The water tank is tiny, so it can only do about 150-200SF rooms at a time if you put the water switch to heavy vs light. I found light wetting to be useless and ineffective on my floors. For the mopping function, I like to draw out rooms on the memorized map. That way I can select the hard floor areas and send it to each one, one at a time with a new tank of water in tow. This is a great feature as long as the map in the app is properly edited. Sometimes it is easier said than done, and the map glitches and gives you a hard time trying to edit zones and section off rooms. The Bad: As mentioned earlier, the memory and mapping function is great!..... when it works. There are a few gripes I have with the app based mapping function of the robot. 1. Sometimes on the map, the docking location will suddenly change, and the robot gets lost. This doesn't mean I moved the dock. The dock is always where it was originally placed. This mainly happens after you command a zone or room cleaning. If you tell it to whole house clean, it happens but super rare. The software glitch will do 1 of 2 things, or both in some cases. The dock teleports into a different room and confuses the robot, or the entire map will rotate 90-180 degrees. This usually happens during mid cleaning, and the robot gets lost. The fix? Clear the map and reload the whole house from the backup map of you manually edited before. The maps backup, there's one updated automatically and backed up, and there's one that backs up immediately after a manual edit. Basically if you got the map how you like it, never ever hit edit again and that map will be backed up. Just load it when the auto map gets wonky. If you delete all the maps, then you have to redraw all the rooms over, which can be an insanely tedious process. See why on the next step about room drawing. 2. The way to section off and draw rooms in the app is super clunky. It work sometimes, but most of the time you'll loose your hair over it. To draw rooms, you have to select a section and select divide. The divide function uses a line that draws clear across the screen through that section. However, if your section/room is odd shaped, sometimes it will cut into that area as well when you don't want it to. I want to section off a doorway, but it will cut into the room and a whole different room as it pleases. This function should use a BOX instead. Drawing a box around a room helps section the house better. Plus there's no mistaking for a line that assumes you want to slice the world in half and consider it two rooms. A box makes more sense, or maybe even keep the line, but add a box function as well for dividing. Sometimes with the line dividing, you spend a minute or two drawing the perfect line, then hit apply, and wait for it.....NOTHING HAPPENS. Then you do it again a few times, and still NOTHING HAPPENS AGAIN! After enough times, it says you have too many rooms when really....there are none drawn yet! Seriously?! Let's hope this gets fixed and updated into future software revisions. Overall, it's a great robot vacuum, and one of the best bang for the buck purchases you can make. It comes with great customer service from Roborock, and they clearly stand behind their product. It does lose one star for the software hiccups. If those ever get fixed, I will definitely bump it up to a 5 star product overall.

Best robotic vacuum! Much better than iRobot i7! I wanted to wait for the Roborock s6 Max but realized that I did not need the s6 Max camera as we don't have pets or children. I've had this vacuum for just over 2 weeks and it (named Nikola as in Nikola Tesla) is amazing and much better than the iRobot i7 it replaced! I will update if I notice any issues in the next few months. -Mapping-Only requires one run through an area to develop a complete map of the floor. I have two floors and it mapped both floors perfectly. My previous vacuum required 2-3 practice runs to develop a map and even then it still considered a downstairs room which was about 80% of the size with a different configuration to be the same as an upstairs room. Via the phone application, one can place no Zones for vacuuming and no Zones for mopping on the same map. Sizing the no Zones takes some trial and error. For my no mopping zones, I had resize the no go Zones 3 different times to perfect this for one area. -Navigation-It is very efficient and takes less than 1/2 time to vacuum a room/floor from the iRobot i7. A room that took the iRobot i7 37 minutes takes the Roborock s6 16 minutes. The application allows you to see in real time the vacuum path that Nikola is taking. It also does not bump into walls or furniture like other robotic vacuums, which the i7 did; so I named it Mr. Magoo. Also, because it uses Lidar, I can vacuum the entire downstairs at night without turning on the lights. -Battery life-It is said that the battery life is up to 180 minutes. This is true only if one is using it on the lowest suction. If you have all medium pile carpet, the battery life is closer to 90 minutes. The vacuum will return to the docking station when the battery gets to about 20-25% of its charge. When it charges up to 75%, it will restart from the area it left to finish that area. My downstairs, approximately 1,200 square feet, is a combination of medium pile carpet, 15% of the area, low pile area rugs, 35% of area, and hardwood floors, 50% of area, and this takes the vacuum 71 minutes. Upstairs, 1,500 square feet, is 90% medium pile and 10% tile and this takes about 93 minutes of vacuum time which does not include time to recharge as it drops below 20-25% charge. -Quiet. It makes so little noise compared to other robotic vacuums. I am able to keep the tv on normal volume and Nikola can vacuum away. -Software-The updates are great. With the latest update, you can map and save at least 2 different floors and I believe up to 3 floors. The vacuum can now clean over carpet that has black patterns or color whereas before this was not possible. My favorite part of the application is the "Maintenance" screen that shows how much time left to replace/clean certain parts of your vacuum. For example, I have 131 more hours left and then I should replace my filter or in 11 hours more of vacuum time, I should clean the bottom cameras/indicators on the vacuum, etc. -Mopping-I was not looking for a mop in a vacuum but I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the mop function works. The mop tank is not large but it can mop about 1,000 square feet of flooring. I used mostly water and some Bona to mop the hardwood floors and it seems to do a good job. -no Handle-My only suggestion would be to include a built in handle for the Roborock s6. It takes me 2 trips to move the docking station and the vacuum from one floor to another only because the vacuum unit does not have a built in handle that I can carry with only 1 hand. -6-5-20 Update on Rugs with black patterns. After my review, I noticed a number of others indicating that the s6 does not vacuum over rugs with black patterns. I read the same on various forums before I purchased Nikola. In fact, in the Facebook Roborock group, there was an entry on October 2019 that showed an s6 user with the same rug that I had (shown in the above photo) where he said the s6 could not navigate over his black patterned rug. So, I purchased a non-black patterned rug at the same time I purchased Nikola. (I hate needing to purchase one thing after buying something else; just like there is no such thing as a "free" dog.) Both the s6 and the new rug were supposed to arrive on the same day. Unfortunately, the rug arrived a week later but I was anxious to use Nikola. Over the week, he easily vacuumed 3 different times over my rug with the thick black patterns. Thus, I’m assuming there was a software update that arrived after viewing the October 2019 entry in the Facebook Roborock group forum that allows for the s6 to vacuum over rugs with thick black patterns. Or, the hardware that came with my white s6 is a later version to allow for this.

Cons

So far it’s just ok, but we’ll see. Probably not worth the price. So far, it seems to be doing ~ok~. One cool feature is it’s mapping ability; the map it was able to create was way better than I expected… it is honestly as good as an actual blueprint. We left a couple cords out, and it was able to successfully navigate around those, and there were a lot of boxes that we purposely left out. It was able to get around those pretty well. We haven’t had a chance to test out the mop yet- I’m still deciding if I want to keep it or return it for a Roomba. On its very first run, it got caught and we had to go search the house for it once we realized it didn’t make its way back to the charging station. Turns out, it got caught on a rug, which was concerning; the rug it got caught on was not a thick rug by any means, and it was completely flat (even when the robot was “trapped”). It doesn’t give any notification when it gets stuck, so that’s a major draw back. We have a deebot vacuum as well, but never use it because of similar issues. Part of the reason I chose such an expensive vacuum was that I expected it to be able to navigate around the house and back to base reliably, so of course that’s concerning. And as a vacuum, it does just ok. There were some visible pieces of dirt that it left behind. Our 3 year old $150 deebot actually does a better job vacuuming.

Roomba out this performs by magnitudes. I have an 18 month old roomba i7+ as well as this vacuum. This vacuum has one advantage over the roomba, LiDAR navigation is perfect. No banging around trying to figure out where it’s at. However, there ends the advantage. This robot doesn’t even come close to vacuuming dust out of carpet or picking up dog hair as compared to roomba i7. I ran this vacuum on maximum power with two passes. It had very little dirt or dog hair in the bin. I ran my 18 month old roomba i7 over the same area afterwards and had three times the debris in the bin. It’s super speedy and vacuums in half the time compared to the roomba, but it doesn’t clean anything other than what’s laying on top of the carpet. I had a clump of dog hair about the size of a quarter that I tossed in front of it while it ran, it just cruised right over it twice. The same clump tossed in front of the roomba was picked up first pass. If you regularly dump rice on your floor like the YouTube videos show, it might be right for you. I did not test the “mopping” feature because it just drags a wet pad around on the floor. How hard could that be? The app is also magnitudes behind the iRobot app as far as features and intuitive use. Alexa or HomeKit integration via hoobs is also very limited. Roomba Alexa integration is pretty decent. You can tell Alexa to clean certain areas with roomba. Not so with Roborock. You can basically use Alexa to turn it on or off. Main takeaway is that this vacuum doesn’t clean even 30% as well as a roomba. The price point of this robot is a couple hundred dollars above the roomba i7 on this date. I think I’ll order a new $50 battery for my roomba and send this $800 Roborock back to amazon.

Don’t Waste Your Money. Unfortunately, we have had this S6 for about one and a half years, and past the one year warranty, but have had issues with it from the beginning. When we first got it, it would start up by itself and start vacuuming on its own about 5:00 pm every day. I tried to reset it and even called tech support several times, but even they could not solve the problem. I love Amazon and just sent it back and ordered a new one and it was fine for about six month. Then it started telling me, “clean, dry, and retry the filter.” This still continued after I washed the filter, and then even after I replaced it with a new Roborock brand filter. I went online and saw lots of people with the same issue saying you could try and blow out the area behind the filter with high pressure air, or even take the Roborock apart to clean the built-in filter that’s located in the body behind the replaceable filter as you can’t simply get to it. Well, I blow it out with a high pressure hose and that solved the issue for about four months, but then that annoying, “clean, dry, and retry” voice came back. In addition to the annoying voice, it automatically reduces the suction to a lower level so it doesn’t clean as well. This time installing a new filter, and blowing out the area behind the filter, did not work! I tried everything again and nothing worked. I called tech support, and they suggested installing a new filter, which I had already done. I have to say tech support is friendly and helpful, if you are lucky enough to get someone in the USA. I hate to saying anything bad about the people in tech support, but most are in China and you can barely understand their English! After much frustration, I decided just to live with it since I did not want to send it in and be without it for a month or more. So every night in the silence of the night we hear, “clean, dry, and retry, the filter!” Well, this morning the Roborock stopped working with a message to reset because an error. This time it indicates that there was an issue with the right wheel. After two call to tech support, I actually hung up n the techs because I could honestly not understand their English. I called back and the third time I thankfully got someone in the USA that I could understand. So his solution, other than what I had already tried, was to take apart the vacuum and see if there was debris on the fan, and around the wheel for the error message. The wheel is a $24 part which will take 4-6 weeks to get here from China! It took me about an hour and a half to take it apart to clean it out, and about 45 to assemble, but the error message is still pooping up and freezing the vacuum. So at this point I have no other choice but to order the new wheel, wait 4-6 weeks, and then hope that fixes the issue? I retrospect, I should have stuck with the more popular like Roomba, Sharp, etc., but I saw such good reviews on the Roborock. However, if you really read some of the real reviews you will see that the issue is a very, very, very common problem and definitely appears to be a design defect because you should not have to take this vacuum apart to clean a built-in filter. I am a handy mechanical person and having to repair such an expensive vacuum myself after such a short time is frustrating, but I can’t imagine what the every day person would do when they run onto this common problem. So, would I recommend a Roborock? Within the first few weeks of my ownership, I might have said yes, but now, definitely NO!

It’s a nice robot but not for mixed floor. It is a nice robot if you have only one type of floor, for mixed floor it is not good. Have to run one round for hardwood with mop, and another one for carpet without mop.

Vacuums well, but repeated error messages with main brush cause frequent manual intervention. I received by Roborock S6 just over a month ago. I have not used the mop feature yet. One reason I bought this device is because I could use it on other floors in my house, had zone control, an efficient method of vacuuming and it does not require light to vacuum. The ability to use it on other floors of my house and have it remember the floor was a little misleading from the reviews/comment. The vacuuming function works well. It does a great job of efficiently vacuuming your house/room. You do have to clean the dust bin and filter after each use. I use the US based mobile APP, but it took me a while to figure out which app to use as it was confusing from the directions. Roborock appears to have a design flaw with the main brush. I frequently received an error message about clearing the main brush even within the first few weeks of use. After clearing the brush frequently, I re-read the directions, watched you-tube videos, called Amazon (first level of assistance) and was patched through to Roborock without diagnosing the problem correctly. (Roborock suggested I change the vacumm setting, which did not resolve the issue.) My husband eventually was able to diagnose the issue of not installing the square end drive bearing properly after cleaning it. Issues with the main brush being blocked is a frequent issue reported in comments. If I was not just past my 30 day return date, I would have shipped it back to Amazon. Based on comments, I suspect others may have had similar issues as I did. Unfortunately, I assumed the company would've resolved the main brush issue by the time I got mine. After significant effort and time, I was able to get the main brush to turn easily again and to vacuum my bedroom carpet without error. Based on past experience, I will have to take the brush apart again to clear the error message. If I were to buy a robot vacuum again, I would buy the more expensive competitor, so I would less manual ongoing involvement and I would be able to clean the second floor of my home, have the map saved and be able to use zone control. Suggestion to Roborock: update your manuals, videos to prevent address the main brush errors and prevent installation errors of the main brush. I also suggest a re-design of the main brush and improving the app to store a 2nd and 3rd floor map.

Pretty good but the app has some obvious flaws. This is our first robot vacuum, so have nothing to compare it to. It does a pretty good job of cleaning. We have hardwood floors with lots of rugs, and I was pretty surprised how well it transfers from floor to rug and back. It has no problem climbing up onto our thickest rugs. My primary complaint is with the Android app. 1) In order to divide a floor into rooms and set individual schedules for each room, you *must* open all of the doors, pick up everything off the floor, and let it explore the *entire* floor on it's first pass. You can't add rooms later by opening doors and sending it through the door to map the new room. With a "zone" cleaning, it will go clean and map the new room, but then that area appears grey on the map and you can only manually send it to clean that room with another "zone" cleaning. You cannot select that area as a room when adding a new item to the schedule. You also cannot select that area with merging/dividing rooms on the "edit map" page. It's perpetually a special snowflake that can only be cleaned with a manual one-shot zone cleaning. In order to be able to use the new area as a proper room, you have to delete the entire map, move everything up off of the floor in *every room* and then let the robot remap the entire floor. In some scenarios, this can be a big pain in the butt. 2) I found the room dividing/merging in the app to be very flakey. It frequently wouldn't appear accept my changes unless I backed all of the way out of the app and back in to see if that change actually worked. After initially making the change (merge or divide), the map wouldn't update to reflect the change and all attempts to try again would fail as well. I eventually discovered that if I backed all of the way out of the app, and then came back in, about 50% of the time, the change was suddenly there and I could proceed with the next change. Otherwise, I had to keep trying again (including backing out and in again), until it "stuck".
