Pros & Cons

Pros

Worked perfect right out of the box. Replacing a 16 yo GE x13 motor. Most difficult part was freeing the shaft from the fan cage on the old motor. Watch some YouTube before you take a hammer to it. The new motor came with excellent instructions & extra crimp connectors that I didn't need. After power up, the motor self calibrated & ran like a champ.

EXCELLENT BUY! After reading all of the 5 star reviews I did not hesitate to purchase this X-13 ECM Replacement. In central Texas when AC goes out you have 3 problems, dealing with the lack of cooling, dealing with your unhappy wife because of the lack of cooling, and dealing with the blood-thirsty AC company. A week ago, my blower motor in HVAC started starting and stopping in quick cycles, then went to just not coming on at all. I called out a Local, Reputable AC company that has been serving Montgomery County for the last 50 years. They diagnosed that the heat control board needed replacing, I allowed them to replace that. After waiting 3 days for the part to arrive the technician spent a couple hours installing and the HVAC was back to coming on. Little problem though, although it was coming on it was not shutting off (by thermostat setting or manually turning off on thermostat). After another couple hours of time billed, another technician joined the party. He tested the low voltage and determined that the blower motor module (end-cap portion of motor) was bad. At that point I inquired how much they were into me for the time spent so far ($450) and control board part ($400). So, at $850 and still a HVAC system not functioning properly I settled up and parted ways with them. But, not before they quoted me another $500 dollars for only the module and what I would guess would have been another $400-500 dollars in time billed. Mind you, their part was the module alone not the entire motor! I googled the motor and all of it's specifications and came across this Evergreen ECM on Amazon. Close to $300 dollars cheaper than the modular alone they quoted me was a no brainer! (whole motor purchased from AC company was told the part would be over $1000). I ordered the Evergreen ECM on Friday with an estimated time of arrival the following Wednesday, to my pleasure it arrived Monday afternoon before I got home from work. I opened up the HVAC, took pictures of the wiring and removed the squirrel cage/ ECM assembly from my unit. Removing the old motor was not bad, with a little heat and penetrating oil applied to the set screw and shaft I was able to set squirrel cage on a 5 gallon bucket and tap the ECM shaft with a hammer and it dropped right out. After installing the mounting brackets to the new Evergreen ECM, I reinstalled it back to the squirrel cage. Reference photos attached as comparison of the old (original ECM installed in Carrier dated 2014) vs replacement Evergreen ECM. As you can see they are 95% identical with the only difference being the shaft is a little longer which in my case was not an issue as it still remained within the squirrel cage. The C L G N connections lined up with my existing plug connection and was a direct fit (look at your old plug and ensure C L G N connections all align, mine were labeled molded into the plastic of the old plug. The new Evergreen ECM comes with a plug assembly with pigtails for the 12345 speed control connections, I used that and connected the appropriate wires to existing speed control wires (in my case blue and white) my unit uses and capped the remaining 3. Zip tied wiring all up and flipped the breaker, the new Evergreen ECM when first powered will go through a start and stop cycling to calibrate it's proper direction and speeds, after 5 minutes my HVAC was back to working as designed and I saved myself another $1000 bucks. I cannot speak for longevity but I feel good that I will get 4-5 years out of this replacement ECM as the original lasted only 6, 4-5 years is A-OK with me for $230 bucks! As long as you have some mechanical ability, do your homework ensuring specs are the same, buy this Evergreen ECM replacement and you will not be unhappy.

Great product. I have no complaints about this product It was a perfect fit I highly recommend this company

Works great so far. Time will tell but runs smooth and quiet as of now

If your existing motor has the same connection, it should work if the HP and voltage are the same. Had asked on here about whether this motor would replace the BroadOcean zwk702b53857701 motor in a Goodman unit and received a reply from a customer that did not answer the question I asked. She was a bit condescending and showed she really didn't know what she was saying (though, she thought she was being very smart) and nothing from the seller; so only the 3 stars for the tech support. However, after talking with a Goodman Tech, we came to the conclusion that this motor does work to replace their BroadOcean zwk702b53857701 motor. This motor has the same harness connection as the BroadOcean X13 does. Of course, as long as the voltage and HP are the same as the existing motor, this should replace your existing motor with the same style connector. Just follow the instructions on where each wire plugs in to the connector on the motor, and it should go well. This motor actually didn't cost that much more than the warranty replacement module ended up costing me, and I am the installing contractor (I've been out of the HVAC-R business for a few years now and this was my first run-in with actually having to find a stand-in/replacement motor for these type motors). By the time you go to order the replacement module from the supply house, have to go back to pick it up when it arrives, pay the warranty fee and the shipping cost, this motor isn't a bad deal, and it came to my house in 2 days. Even though I do have the warranty replacement module, I am still running this motor in my unit for now. I wired it to run by the torque of the motor for the best RPM and it seems to perform better than the pre-programmed motor for this particular unit that I have. This motor senses which direction it is supposed to turn at start-up by the torque. It also has a way to force it to change directions if that doesn't work. It does have 5 speed connections, but read the instructions on how to connect your existing wires carefully (you could actually force it to change directions). One of the speed connections is a torque sensing connection and the motor will adjust the RPM's for the best torque and then it remembers that speed for each consecutive run.

It arived in 2 days. It came with electrical instruction. My 2.5 tons Rheem blower motor died. I ordered this motor (new, not rebuilt), and it arrived in 2 days!. It came with instructions how to connect to the motor and some extra connectors to make the cables (which I don't need because I used the original cables). I installed the motor (on 06/29/2022) and it works great! This motor fits exactly my original motor; so I had no issues putting the 4 mounting brackets and the belly ring together. Thanks God, the A/C is back... it was like Hell in south FL w/o A/C. I'll update this review if it needs to be updated in the future (cross my fingers).

Cons

There is no warranty with this motor - unless you are a distributor or repair facility. Motor works, and saved me in a jam - but after reading some of the reviews, these motor controllers are terrible and often go bad. That said, I asked the seller about the warranty and was told that there is no end user warranty - warranty is only for the distributor or repair facility. Sooooo.... if it goes bad, you just have to buy a new one.

Wrong motor size. Ordered a 1/2hp motor and recieved a 1/3hp. Came in new box with new wiring which is great but i expected the right part. Not a used one.

No instructions includes or wires/caps. This came without a wired and caps but thank goodness I only needed the motor. I gave it a 3 star still because the main motor worked. My box did not come with any instructions but I just look for a simple YouTube video shows you how to fix it. Easy to install just need simple tools to fix this.

LETS HOPE IT LASTS. Easy to install and calibrates quickly. I could have used this 7 years ago. Lets hope this one lasts that long. I hate the fact that these motors have a short life 7 years if you're lucky vs a psc motor that can last up to 20 years. I'm not sure i believe the hipe about it being more efficient, but it does seem to blow more air vs my psc motor of the same specs.

Serves its purpose. Ok, the problem is not with the product it is with the tech support. They said it was a direct replacement for my Trane AC. However, it was not. Had I not been savy with electrical wiring it would have never worked and they would not take it back. I ended up hacking the wire harness on the AC and hooking it up to the high speed on the new motor. Shame on them !!!!

Dead in 9 months. I've had an absolutely insane amount of problems with my HVAC unit since moving into this house a decade ago, and after getting a completely new unit, I've replaced the motor 3 different times. This last time was only back in November, and I just spent over an hour troubleshooting the thermostat and the electrical. As best as I can tell, its dead. I'm just hoping they have a warranty to replace this, but I'm guessing it will be dead in a year or two like the others before it. :\
