Pros & Cons

Pros

Sweet, sweet deal! Going to make pie for hubby now! I have used the Powdered Swerve in frostings before at my daughter's recommendation, and was well pleased with the results. When I discovered I was almost out of my Powdered Swerve AND my regular erythritol mix, I started searching and found this pack. I was delighted to find this bundle that includes both powdered and granulated sweetener. In my opinion, Swerve is an excellent substitute for refined sugar. As a sugar alcohol, it is safe for the diabetic in my family and does not spike my glycemic level, yet measures the same as sugar and tastes like sugar. As I have been working on weight loss and healthy eating, this is an integral component that helps keep me from craving off-plan sweets. One comment about the taste/sensation of products like Swerve - you will enjoy them more if you get off of refined sugar, but it isn't required, and any sweetener that contains Erythritol causes some people to experience a slight cooling effect in their mouth when eating it. I actually no longer notice that, and just enjoy the yumminess of my home made treats! When I opened my Amazon box, I thought at first I only had one bag of Swerve in there, but it is shrink wrapped together - the powdered and granulated bags - and arrived undamaged and ready for me to open. When you start using Swerve, I recommend that you try a little less than the amount of sugar in a recipe, and increase it as desired. Sometimes I use less, and sometimes more, but in general, it tends to be pretty much the same measure as sugar. One last thing - unlike products with xylitol in them, Swerve is not toxic to my dog. PROS: Conducive to weight loss and maintenance Does not spike your glycemic level Safe for diabetics Measures like sugar Tastes like sugar to most people Has both powdered and granulated Swerve - one package of each - in this listing Not toxic to my pup CONS: It is more expensive than refined sugars, but I also no longer have to take as many prescriptions to regulate blood pressure, etc having lost over 50 pounds so that part doesn't bother me at all CONCLUSIONS: I wish it were on Subscribe & Save for the convenience, but I'm going to "adult" and keep watch on my pantry so I don't run out... but if I did run out, I know with Prime I can have my cake in a day or two, and it will be worth the wait! (Without the additional *weight*!!!) The BEST Sugar Alternative Ever❣. I have never liked any artificial sweeteners. Aspartame, sucralose, ect. YUCK! When stevia came out, I thought it was at least edible. A decent substitute for sugar. I was doing some research on a "low glycemic index" diet, and kept noticing this sugar alternative being mentioned, and used in a lot of recipes. I thought, ok, I'll try it! I ordered this 3 pack that comes with one bag of each kind. Granulated, Brown, and Powdered. The next morning after receiving it, I put a couple of spoonfuls of the Brown on my bowl of oatmeal. OMG!! It tasted just like the real thing! All 3 kinds are DELICIOUS! Depending on how you are using it, determines on how much you use. For instance, for making cake frosting, I found that you need to use LESS of the Swerve powdered, than you would regular powdered sugar. If you use the same, it will turn out WAY TOO sweet. So far, I've only used the Brown on my oatmeal. YUM! And the Granular, I sprinkle it on berries, or any fruit that needs a little extra sweetness. ALL of them are SO GOOD with NO weird aftertaste.

Awesome product! Thanks for being there! This sugar substitute is awesome for someone needing to stay as carb-free as possible!! It measures and dissolves pretty much like the real thing. It's basically erythritol, which I researched online and found no negative PR, health-wise. It is apparently a molecule that tastes sweet but isn't absorbed by the body. I use it all the time to make ice cream for our daughter who has brain cancer and stays on a very rigid low carb diet (20g or less in a day) so as not to feed the tumor (which is inoperable). She loves it! It makes her so happy to have something that really tastes like dessert! By the way, she has survived and thrived (!) quite a ways beyond the expected time and we think it is the low carb approach. Swerve has been such a blessing to my cooking efforts!

Finally! A healthy alternative! Like a lot of people out there, I've had to cut out all the sugar, grains and starches. The problem is, I love to bake! I also love sweets! Believe me, it hasn't been easy!!! I was constantly looking for alternatives which always lead me to a dead end. So after researching Swerve, I decided to give it a try.......I've used it in cookies, cakes, frostings, put it in my coffee and my smoothies and I have to say, I'm impressed! It doesn't effect your blood sugar so I don't find my heart rate bumped up after using it, works just as good as sugar. I know we all have different taste buds but I didn't experience any bitter after taste. I will say it is very powdery when baking with it, so expect a cloud of dust when mixing! I've noticed when using the powdered sugar in frostings, it runs a lot sweeter than normal powdered sugar, so you will need to adjust accordingly to your individual taste. Very happy with this product and hope they will offer it in larger packages with a discount :)

Sugar substitute. My son's A1C was too high (he's 34). A friend recommended Swerve to use in his morning oatmeal. He says it doesn't taste any different from real brown sugar. I got the powdered Swerve and granulated to try in baking. We could all stand to use less sugar!

Great for Keto dieters! It is really hard to find the confectioner's sugar, and brown sugar, in the grocery store! I'm very thankful for the option to order online. My Keto creations, using these products, have been a huge hit with my husband, and, lord knows, I gotta keep HIM happy!

Cons

Too expensive, too small of a package. It tastes alright but they need a bigger package. This is only a cup and a half and if you're using it as a sugar substitute in baking/recipes that are calling for 1C of sugar and Swerve is a 1:1 ratio, it gets wayyyyy too expensive to reasonably use this as a long term substitute compared to plain stevia. I understand the benefits but I can't get behind the price per ounce, OVER $1. So each cup is $8. WOW!!!!

Not a fan. OK so I tried this product and I was excited to try it because all of the great reviews that I’ve read about it not to mention I have seen so many YouTube videos regarding using swerve in their baking stating that it was absolutely amazing and many swear by it so of course I wanted to give it a try. But to my surprise when I tasted it I do not like it not one bit. It has a cooling effect in the back of my tongue that’s almost like when you’re chewing on sugar-free mint bubblegum and it’s very unpleasant to me and off putting. In fact the cooling affect destroys the flavor of anything you put it in. I’ve tried the granulated And I tried the powder and I don’t like either I’m gonna have to find another substitute for those but to my surprise I love the brown sugar one. It doesn’t have as much of the cooling effect as the granulated or the powdered sugar. For me buying the trio was a complete waste of money because I’m not gonna use the granulated or the powdered sugar probably ever again unless I absolutely have too because I ran out of something else. The cooling effect on the back of the tongue makes it completely not worthwhile I would never use this product in my teas or any drinks For that matter unless it was something involving peppermint or something like that. To where the cooling effect is part of the charm of the dish or drink. I did try baking a lemon cake with it just to be sure and it bakes very well the upfront flavor was great but the aftertaste or the cooling effect you get afterwards made the whole flavor a bit off putting. I think I’m gonna stick with monk fruit sweetener for now on. Not to mention the bags are so small that even if I did like it the cost would have turned me off because making 1 small eight inch double layer cake almost used the entire bag and I only used 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of sweetener. Not worth the price or flavor in my book

Causes extreme gastric upset. Gastric upset was an understatement. I put it in various things before realizing this is what was making my children and I so ill. I cannot consume this. It’s as bad as sugar free gummy bears.

High price. I actually love this product. It tastes great and doesn't leave an aftertaste. It requires slightly more to get the same sweetness as you would from regular sugar or sugar substitutes, however. The reason for the 3 stars is pricing. I can get one bag of Swerve at a local grocery for less than $8 per bag. That's where I'll be buying from now on.

Stomach issues. I had a tablespoon to a tablespoon and a half and it gave me terrible stomach issues. The taste isn't great but it isn't terrible for an artificial sweetener. I do not recommend if you have a sensitive stomach.

This is not an equivalent sugar replacement for baking. Maybe this is a good sugar replacement in certain baked foods, but I just used the granulated sugar and brown sugar to make cookies, and I had to throw out the entire batch. The aftertaste, which is hard to describe, grows stronger after the very first bite, and quickly overpowers all other flavors. Also changes the consistency of the dough. Not a good substitute at all in this case. Great, though, that it doesn’t impact blood sugar.
