Pros & Cons

Pros

Sweet baby Jesus. **Update 2** I found some period underwear from Knix on sale for the holidays, and got them to give them a try. They are great for wearing with leggings because they have almost no VPL, but also not for night wear. They are also much more thin in the pad area, so dry faster but haven't given them a real test for absorption. These from Bambody are still the best for heavy days and overnights by a longshot. Also, still going strong after months of using them every month, so I can tell you that they are pretty durable! Just check the sizing, and if you are curvy, go with the lace top version! **Update** I've now been using these for a few months, as well as trying a few other brands to compare. The two others I bought to try were Thinx and Pink. Short version, Bambody is still my favorite, but the Pink ones gave them some competition. I love the lace top ones from Bambody best, but either are wonderful. The long version is that I decided to try the "magical" Thinx brand, but went with the cheaper (but still most expensive of the three) BTWN version available at Target because I couldn't bring myself to pay the price for the regular ones. That might be why I hated them, because it was a classic case of the store brand being juuuust not quite the same, but either way, never again. The only nice thing I can say is that the sizing is accurate. Uncomfortable, made with a heavy fabric, and they felt like I was wearing a diaper. Also, the absorbent part stops well short of where you need it to go if you don't want leaks at night. It's the equivalent of wearing a regular pad to bed rather than the overnight pad. They have been put in the back of the rotation for only emergency situations. The next pair I tried were the Pink period underwear from Victoria's Secret. I bought the hipster fit as they come in hipster, boy shorts, and thong. VS just had a big sale, so I snagged them for nearly 50% off. Are they worth the full price? A solid maybe. They have some pros and cons. On the plus side, they are more stretchy than these from Bambody, the sizing is accurate, and the fabric feels like it is a little lighter. They are also pretty comfortable. The biggest positive is that I HATE VPL, and these have the lowest profile side seams. Still not really leggings friendly, but better than even Bambody. As for the cons, the biggest thing is that they, too, are only for day wear. The pad part does go up a little more in the front than Thinx, but it stops halfway up the back, same as the Thinx pair. (The slight upside to this fact is that they dry a little faster by having less fabric.) They are also less absorbent overall so maybe not the best for heavy days unless you can change or use them as backup, and more expensive per a single pair unless you can grab them on sale. All said, I liked these enough that I got a few more to have on hand as they are a solid addition to the rotation. As for Bambody, I've found some pros and cons after a few months of use, though the cons are my own fault. They are still magical, but I did buy them too small (as stated in the original review, I sized up to XL and needed XXL), so I ended up modifying the sides so they didn't cut in to my thighs. I'm curvy, so briefs don't fit me quite right anyways, and being a little small exacerbates the issue. The lace top ones are the most comfortable with the best fit and are my favorite, so I wear the briefs at night when the fit doesn't matter so much and use the lace ones for daytime on heavy days. They are super absorbent, so I can wear a pair on their own for a full day or night with no worries. My only complaint is that they are decidedly NOT leggings friendly, so be prepared for serious VPL if you pair them with certain tight or thin fabrics. **Original review** This is an honest review. Don't want the nitty gritty details, buy these now and have the best period of your life. I have a horrible period. Nothing medically going on, just one of the lucky ones with cramps that can leave me crying on the floor and a super heavy flow for several days that laughs at any of my feeble attempts to stem the red tide. I've tried it all, and I had finally found that a cup and a pad for backup would work, if I was able to go to the bathroom every hour or two. But that's not always feasible, because life. So after reading and comparing every brand of period underwear on the internet during a particularly bad day 1, I decided to try these. Not only did they arrive the next day, they were SOOOOO much cheaper than the other brands! But, I was hesitant. I mean, how great could these things be? Oh, Lord forgive me, I was wrong. I nearly ran over the delivery guy to get the package, and threw all three pairs straight in the washer. Air drying took nearly a full day in a sunny place, but the following morning, I tried the first pair. And, in the spirit of science, I didn't use it as a backup to the cup, I used it alone. It. Was. Glorious. Now, I was terrified at first, because despite saying that these things can hold the same as 2 tampons, it's advertising. Two tampons is a relative measurement. With that on my mind, I rushed to the bathroom every few minutes to verify that there was no leaking for a few hours, every time I felt that particular gush that always signalled utter disaster was happening. But there were no leaks. At all. So then I went grocery shopping, and took the dogs for a walk, and lived my life, and then, finally, that afternoon, I changed to another pair. I nearly cried from happiness. These are super soft and comfy, you don't feel wet, and the underwear don't really get a funky smell. My only complaint is from my own not trying them on. I sized up to XL, and needed XXL. The XL are fine after I stretched out the leg seams a bit, but I ordered some of the lace bikini pairs in XXL.

Exceeded my expectations. Every time I wear these, I’m amazed. They really absorb and pull moisture away from the body without any leaks at all. The underwear fit snugly (you want them to for the sake of leak prevention), but they are comfortable. I have a pretty high bar for comfort and these are good. I’ve had several kids and tampons don’t fit quite like they used to. Pads are okay at times, but there is always a chance of them shifting and causing a leak. These underwear can’t shift. They are literally always where they need to be. I wish they had these when I was younger—it would have been a game changer. I feel confident wearing these on moderate to heavy days. If it was the kind of day where heavy wouldn’t begin to describe the flow (been there), I’d definitely use these as a backup for a tampon. I used these underwear for one of “those days” and though I still didn’t leak, I noticed they weren’t as dry as they were every other time I use them. I think they may have met their match that day, but I made it through the whole day, still no leaks! The only downside is the care. It’s not hard to care for them BUT you’re supposed to rinse, then keep them wet until washing. Not a dealbreaker by any means, just a little more effort than throwing away a pad/tampon. Worth every penny!

Very absorbant. This was my first venture into the world of period undies, and I am happy with them. Many of the reviews I read said to size up, but I ordered my normal size because I would rather them be a little snug than too big, especially when there could be a possibility of leaking. I'm happy with my decision not to size up, and I like the fit, except I would've liked just a slightly higher rise. These are very absorbant and can tide me over for about 24 hours (give or take) on my heaviest days (though to be fair, my periods are not usually super heavy). At first I was a little paranoid about it because I didn't know how much they could hold, but the more I wear them, the more secure I feel. That's not to say that you can't bleed through them, because you can - it just takes a lot. And so far my only experience with "leaking" was just that a little blood came around the seams on the crotch part and got on the outside of the underwear. I discovered it pretty quickly and it didn't get on my pants or anything. One thing I will say is that they are not as stretchy as normal underwear due to the leakproof lining. But overall, I like them. I can live my normal life in these - sleeping, working out, going out, etc. - and feel pretty secure doing it.

No More Cramps? I’m so happy. My day 2 cramps used to be HORRIBLE but since I’ve been wearing these I’ve literally felt minimal cramps (I’m on day 2 right now). They are very comfortable! I got a size up to be safe and I just wear them like boy shorts with a tshirt over. Can definitely see the panty line in leggings but that’s expected because of the material. I just wear a big shirt to cover (I don’t like panty lines). Also, I have a VERY heavy flow and was kind of scared to sleep in them bc usually there’s always leakage with my pad on and tampon in, but this time I just tried it, put a towel down, and when I woke up ABSOLUTELY NO LEAKAGE! I was so amazed bc I was sure I was gonna wake up to a mess. It’s full coverage front to back and I even slept on my back and no leakage!!! My cramps through the night were also very minimal. I will say tho that this product doesn’t absorb clots (obviously) so I just got a tissue and threw the clot out. The instructions say to rinse as soon as you take them off (don’t let the blood dry) then just throw in with your laundry. So that’s what I did this morning and just threw on a new pair. I know this review is long but who knew that pads and tampons were causing me this pain and not working as efficient as they should! I am definitely buying more

Comfortable and very absorbent. I've tried period panties before (thinx brand when they first came out) and wasn't a fan because they were so expensive and constrictive. I've wanted to give them a try again and was searching for an affordable option. These had the best reviews, so I ordered them a few days ago. please note that they carry an absorbent period panty vs a leak proof panty; I bought the absorbent one since I want to try and replace the use of period products. Just got them today, which happens to be my second day of my period. I tried them out today to see how well they hold up because my second day is the heaviest flow (my first day is often just spotting). All of their panties are considered light flow/normal flow, so I was very worried these would leak. Immediately after putting them on, I knew I'd like them. They're extremely comfortable. They haven't leaked over the course of 6 hours. They didn't leak when I laid down. However, I can tell that I should wait til my third day to use these or to only use them overnight on very heavy days, because I can tell that I'd need to change em out a couple times on heavy days. Mind you, my heavy flow days are *very* heavy. My only complaint is, I feel like these don't lock in odor as well as other brands and/or as well as a standard pad would. This makes them somewhat unpleasant once you've worn them for a while. I will edit this portion of my review if this issue is not present on light days. Giving them 4/5 solely because I'd like to see a heavy flow option as well as some improvement odor absorption quality.

Size Up! I normally wear a size M underwear. I'm 5'5, 135 lbs with a 41" hip measurement. I decided to go with the XL based on reviews. They fit comfortably, maybe even slightly loose but I can't say if the Large would have been a little too tight or just right. I decided to do the ultimate test and wear them at night, by themselves, on the first night of my period. A heavy flow and I've never not had leakage using any other products. I wore them for 9 hours. It did start feeling damp against my skin which is what prompted me to wake up and check but I was pleasantly surprised there was no leakage or blood left on my skin anywhere. Everything had absorbed. Test passed, will be ordering more for me and my daughter.

Cons

Highly rated online but not for me. This panty gets good reviews online but the fit is poor. I bought a medium and it fits my hips, but it hits the middle of my stomach like a bikini. It is described as a brief but it is really a bikini. Buying a large would not solve this problem as it is really the style of this underwear. Maybe some women like that style but it is really uncomfortable for me.

Just ok. Not a big fan of the material. Feels like I'm wearing a bathing suit bottom. Also, they don't really retain their shape. They stretch out as you wear them & end up being droopy. Does the job for at home or overnight wear. Would not wear out of the house though.

Works OK for light days. Absorbency: is good for light days and I have yet to have any leaks BUT they do feel “wet” pretty quickly and don’t wick the moisture away well enough, leaving me feeling icky if I wear them more than 4-6 hours on a light day. Odor control: is nonexistent, again leaving me feeling icky after 4-6 hours on a light day. Fit: they run small, I ordered up one size from my usual. I am 5’6”, 155lbs and normally wear a large (MeUndies, Hanes, amazon brand) and in these I ordered an XL and they fit great. They stay put and don’t ride up at all. They are soft and just love the way they feel when they are dry, just hugging perfectly without movement.

Make sure you size up ! I received my product and had to return them because they fit too small. I wish I could have known that the first time because the material felt secure and good! I plan on ordering again so I can write a review after wearing them for the intended purpose!

Order size up. A Godsend!!! I ordered the size based off of their chart and even though I fall within the measurements they are way too small. Will have to return and update after use. UPDATE: receive larger size. Still very surprised at sizing. I'm 5'4 130 and don't consider myself very curvy but they are still tighter than I would like and I tried both small and medium sizes. Also the "high waist" is not high, they sit where an underwear waist should and even are even pretty low in the back. I don't know, maybe they are made for people with absolutely no rear? Pro's: - worry free! I could wear these for 6+ hours on a really heavy day (no other protection!) By themselves and be completely covered. On a heavy day they last 8+ hours and a light day they lasted 12+ hours! -They don't smell! Like AT ALL. Really surprised me. -They don't leak! I wore these with all kind of outfits and doing all kind of activities for the full 7 days for me and no leaks happened. -They are VERY comfortable! - They are quiet. I thought they might have some sort of diaper or pad krinkley sound when you walk like pads but they don't -They don't feel wet. The liner absorbs everything but you can tell when it's time to change them. Con's: -Washing them. You have to wash them right after you take them off so the discharge doesn't stay in the fabric and hinder absorbtion later and it's not that big of a deal but I had to spend an extra 5-10 minutes in the bathroom washing them in the sink and it was inconvenient a few times when I was in a rush to swap underwear and get out the door. -Drying them. Probably the most negative thing besides washing them is having to hang to dry and have a backup pair to wear while those dry. They are made to hold a lot of liquid so they take half a day or more to dry. I would say all in all these are worth it, but they do require more planning because of having to wash and dry them by hand. I think more women would switch to something like this if they knew the harm other women's products do to their body. Also I have had quite a few kids and putting something 'up there' is not really an option at this point as my flow is very heavy now and it's more uncomfortable to have items in there like cups or discs or tampons and pads always grossed me out. Would highly recommend these! P. S. I am a woman but I bought these under my husband's account :)

Inconsistent quality, disappointed. This is my 3rd time ordering this underwear, and each time has been a trip. My first time ordering these was great! I only had to size up by 1 size (I got an XL) and the quality was great. Second time was awful, I ordered the same size (XL) but they fit way too small (other reviews mentioned having to size up 2 or 3 sizes, I think they definitely changed their sizing), and the quality had changed. 3rd time ordering I bought 2 pairs, both same size (3XL, as per the other reviews), but both widely different in quality. One fits perfectly with no problems while the other is too tight around the legs and sits lower on my stomach (not to mention this one had been opened before and was taped back closed when I received it). All the underwear came from 2 different countries (Vietnam and Mexico), so that might explain why the quality and sizing has been so off each time. While the underwear has been great, the quality has been inconsistent each time, and I won't be ordering from this brand anymore.
