Pros & Cons
Pros
So glad I got these! Was was seriously considering spending a LOT more money on a pair of Bose wireless headphones. After doing a little research, I decided on these. I have had previous great experiences with JBL products . Their products are consistently good quality and their customer service was always excellent. They bend over backwards for their customers. These headphones did not disappoint! The sound quality is excellent. Call quality is, as well. My son says my voice on calls sounds crisp and clear with minimal background noise. The noise canceling was way beyond what I expected at the price point! It is very very good! And I love the app. It makes customizing the sound easy. On my iPhone, setup was seamless and easy. The controls on the headphones are easy to understand and use. So far this has been one of my favorite purchases! Well worth the money and unless you have some kind of audiophile supersonic hearing, don’t spend more money than you have to. You will be very happy with these!
EXCELLENT. I love these so much and I’ve only had them a couple of hours. Getting the JBL app enhances the experience. And the ANC setting are great. Noise cancelling is amazing! These headphones feel well made and they are comfortable:)
great headset. i use these at work it can get loud on occasion and they work great. great sound quality could be louder but really they do not need to be. battery life is awesome one charge can last me 3 days if i dont have to nuse the A.N.C and i work 10 hour shifts. the app is nice and has pre set EQ'S and you can make a custom EQ as well
Noise Canceling! LOVE these!! Use them while I clean (vacuum is so loud). Use them to work out. Use them while I work. I use them all the time and I can’t tell you how much I love them!
Great for the price point. Sound cancelling isn't as good at the flagship Sony (which have surpassed Bose at this point), and sound quality isn't as good as flagship Sennheiser. That's okay because these cost way less and the sound cancelling and sound quality are still pretty good. You can still feel the base from Massive Attack's "Angel" and you can still reduce the noise on a plane and they're a ton better than anything else in this price bracket and won't fall apart. EDIT-2023 Noise cancelling is way better now and I think it is just wear-in giving them a better fit. If I ever-so-slightly compress the ear cups against my head, the noise cancelling becomes absolutely amazing and it will stay that way when I let go. I think the spacing from the driver to my ear is was just too far when the cups were newer and stiffer. It was absolutely silent on my last flight and when I pulled them down to ask for coffee from the drink cart, I was startled by how suddenly loud it was. I would say they are every bit as good as the best of the best from Sony/Bose for noise cancelling, just needed to break in the cups. END_EDIT The phone app lets you setup a custom EQ and adjust preferences. You can connect to two devices at once, so Phone and Computer most likely. Battery life is crazy long, but if it ever does die, you can still use them corded. They use ACC, so they'll sound great with most phones, Mac, and Windows 10 when not using the mic, but Windows 11 tries to force them into SBC and Windows 10 will use SBC if you are using the mic and SBC sounds pretty bad. This is a Windows problem, not a JBL problem, but if JBL added support for another codec Windows likes better, it would be nice. If you're just doing Teams or something, SBC won't bother you, but you'll notice if trying to play music on Windows 11 and can't figure out how to force Windows back into ACC. If you don't know what ACC and SBC are, don't worry about it. Sound quality is definitely best when using them with noise cancelling on, but audio and noise cancelling are separate, so you can use one without the other if you want (weirdly not possible on some other headset brands).
AWESOME QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE. these headphones are worth your buck and great for music would recommend
Cons
Not the perfect headphones. I got these on sale for about 100 bucks on Cyber Monday last year, but I still kinda wish I paid less. I've been using these for 6 months, and I'm switching out. The noise cancellation is pretty bad. I didn't notice it at first, but the frequencies for the noise cancelation waves weren't tuned right, and it was really distracting. It sounds like quiet sci-fi lasers going off all the time. It got to a point where I have to turn the noise cancelation off. There are a couple different kinds of noise cancelation, but I couldn't really tell the difference between them. The sound is ok. I really like the equalizer in the app, but the default settings isn't the best in my opinion. A lot of others complain it doesn't get loud enough, but I never really need it to be that loud. However, when the volume is up, the bass gets distorted. The build isn't very sturdy, or at least it didn't hold up well with frequent wearing. Though, it is very comfortable. The mic isn't that good, but that's just because it's bluetooth.
Not Impressed. I am a full-time video editor so I wear my headphones 8-10 hours a day. I purchase a new pair of headphones every other year just due to wear and tear and these were my most reent pair. Here is my review after 3 months of use: PROS: - Great battery life. I use these over 6 hours every day and only have to charge them once or twice a week. - Quick charge - when I do have to charge them up, it only takes 10-20 minutes - They are snug and stay put for when you are in the gym doing cardio movements - I think the sound quality is pretty good for the price CONS: - The noise cancellation is not great at all, I've had cheaper headphones with better ANC - They are not the most comfortable, not a lot of padding on the ears and they are VERY snug - You cannot be connected to 2 devices at one successfully
I'm not sure if it's user error. For some reason these always give me headaches. I don't think that the noise canceling works it amplifies all the sounds instead of canceling them out (yes they are in canceling mode) and the volume cannot go very loud. Granted my hearing isn't great.
Not impressed. I was expecting more from a jbl product. The noise-canceling part is cool, but for loudness it's weak. I'm a metalhead I want it loud.
Good for the price point however…. Trying to decide on a comfortable headset with good noise cancellation and frequency response at an affordable price point? The Apple Airpods Max are very good at noise cancellation and are well integrated into the Apple universe. However the price is ridiculous! They are HEAVY, have no headband padding, a poor excuse for a storage case, can’t be powered down and pinch the ears too tightly. The JBL 660NC headphones have mediocre noise cancellation; a lot of ambient room sounds leak by albeit at low levels. Still the noise is discernible and somewhat distracting. Overall the sound is bright without overpowering bass and can be modified somewhat. I agree with another reviewer that the pictographic instructions detract from ease of setup. Too many buttons! Why does a relatively new design still incorporate a BlueTooth connection button? The “Adaptive Noise Cancellation” feature seems to be mostly marketing hyperbole. They also pinch and become uncomfortable with extended use. Having tried both the aforementioned headphones, I settled on the Bose Quiet Comfort 45. Absolutely superior, Apple-like noise cancellation: extremely lightweight and very comfortable for extended wear: legendary Bose sound. Now that they are priced at almost a third of the Apple Airpods Max ($549) and about twice the discounted JBL 660NC ($99.95) it’s a no brainer!
They’re okay. I wish they were louder… JBL is usually great quality so I’m upset with how quiet these are. I feel like my AirPods are louder!
