Pros & Cons

Pros

In Love with my Insignia!! I recently purchased the Insignia 50" NS-50F301NA22 TV, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This TV has surpassed all my expectations, and I feel compelled to share my experience with others who might be considering it. First off, the picture quality is simply stunning. The 4K Ultra HD resolution delivers crystal clear images with vibrant colors, making everything I watch on this TV an immersive experience. The HDR10 support ensures that the contrast and brightness levels are top-notch, and the 60Hz refresh rate provides smooth motion handling for fast-paced content like sports and action movies. One of the features I appreciate most about this TV is its voice control compatibility. Being able to use my Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant to change channels, adjust the volume, or turn the TV on and off has been a game-changer. It's incredibly convenient and enhances the overall user experience. The NS-50F301NA22 also comes with a built-in Fire TV experience, which has made streaming my favorite shows and movies a breeze. The extensive range of apps available, including Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and YouTube, means I never run out of things to watch. Plus, the simple and intuitive interface makes navigating through the menu a piece of cake. Connecting my devices was effortless, thanks to the multiple connectivity options provided by this TV. It comes with three HDMI ports, a USB port, a composite input, and even a headphone jack. I've been able to connect my gaming console, Blu-ray player, and soundbar without any issues. The sleek design of the Insignia NS-50F301NA22 is another aspect worth mentioning. The slim bezels give it a modern look, and the sturdy stand ensures that it stays securely in place. It's the perfect centerpiece for my living room, and I've received several compliments on its appearance. In conclusion, the Insignia 50" NS-50F301NA22 TV has exceeded all my expectations in terms of picture quality, features, and design. I wholeheartedly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a reliable, feature-packed, and stunning 4K Ultra HD television at an affordable price. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

Perfect in every way. Not much of a tv person so I’ve had a hand me down 30” for five years before upgrading this weekend. It’s a perfect size for a small bedroom and I was able to fit the box in a Honda Fit and carry it myself. Set up was easy and I love all the convenience of built in Alexa and the screen and sound quality is way better than expected. Very happy about the purchase.

WOW!! First of all, let me start off by saying, I was hesitant to buy this, because of the low price point... For $220, how good could it be? But after reading the reviews, I decided to make the leap. My first impressions of this TV are just WOW. The picture, is crystal clear, the sound is pretty good (I wouldn't say the most clear, but it doesn't deserve a knock for this, considering it's only a $200 tv.). Overall the TV is very light, and I was able to wallmount this TV with ease, by myself. The picture is absolutely crystal clear, and I COULDN'T be happier!! Would highly recommend this TV for someone who want's a new TV, but doesn't want to pay over $400 for a new one.

Stopped working after one month. Geek Squad repaired it. Purchased this tv and it was great….for a month. Less than a week after the 30 day return/exchange window ended, I got the “green screen of death.” The menus come up fine, but as soon as you try to play any video (live or streaming, including YouTube), it looks like the photo that I provided. I tried every troubleshooting method available. Contacted Amazon who directed me to Best Buy. I can’t return it, but thankfully the manufacturer warranty is still active. So, I called the manufacturer. Unfortunately, the next available appointment they have is a month away. So, for now, I’m leaving a 2 star rating. Having a new tv for 2 months, but only being able to use it for the first month is not the best experience. I’ll update my review after they come to look at it and let me know if it can be repaired or replaced. Edit: Since the item came from Best Buy, Geek Squad came to repair it. They had to order a new mother board. Waited a few more weeks for the part to come in. The repair was fairly quick. No issues since then. Again, the tv is great. I just removed one star for the inconvenience.

Good for the money. I liked the packaging & quick guide tips. It was simple to get the feet put on & set up. I could maneuver it by myself & am happy with it.

Great picture. Love the picture on this TV. The smart TV factor helps a great deal.

Cons

Good Customer service. Friday 26th of May Had it for 7 months, Never dinged it,dropped it, bumped it, or anything came home to enjoy and then this Screen came up!! update Saturday, 27th the day after my TV broke insignia contacted me they’re sending someone from Geek squad to check out the TV if they can’t fix it they said they’re gonna give me a new one. That’s legendary customer service. Therefore I’m changing my review. If you have problems with this television, go to Amazon first, just so they can say they went through the troubleshooting process and then they’re going to refer you to Best Buy but instead of calling Best Buy, call insignia themselves were you’ll talk to someone on the phone, they’ll ask questions and set up an appointment for someone to come check out the TV if they can’t fix the TV they replace it for free

Poor warranty performance from Best Buy. Initially TV was fine for the price. Broke down after 8 months. Having bad warranty service from Best Buy. Service person came without parts. Ordered a part that "probably will not solve problem". Waiting two weeks to be installed. May replace if part doesn't solve. Blame China for parts shortage. Amazon didn't help.

Nice smart TV but no way to connect Dish Network....... If you need an antenna connection like I do you will need the coaxial connection. I also have a coaxial cable on my Dish Network (satellite) feed and this "Smart" TV will not read or connect to the Dish Network thru the coaxial connection. Disappointing.

Insigna and best buy do not honor warranty. Product worked fine for 4 months, then completely stopped showing picture. Insignia will not respond to warranty requests, best buy does respond but says contact insignia. Insignia's website says contact best buy for support. They've had me waiting for almost 3 weeks to file a simple warranty claim right now. It's an ok TV when it works but when something goes wrong neither the seller or manufacturer support their product. Ironically the seller (Best Buy) and the manufacturer (Insignia) are also the same company, Insignia is a fully owned subsidiary of Best Buy, so when Best Buy refuses to provide warranty service on an Insignia TV and tells you to call Insignia, that is actually Best Buy telling you to call another division of Best Buy and refusing to honor a warranty on something they manufactured. Edit: now nearly at the 1 month point, neither Best Buy or their fully owned subsidiary Insignia has done anything at all to honor their warranty and they've refused to supply their legal address for a small claims court claim repeatedly. Edit2: now Best Buy is now scheduled to come to my house a full month after the tv broke to verify it is broken, despite Best Buy claiming they couldn't do anything because only the manufacturer could. The manufacturer is fully owned by Best Buy. Their warranty "service" let a full month of my warranty period expire before they would even schedule a repair. If you buy this TV do not expect any sort of timely warranty services nor should you expect Best Buy or Amazon to do anything to help if the product fails. Won't ever trust Best Buy again to honor any warranty after seeing how they handle the company they own. Edit 3: now up to having to contact insignia support 22 total times by email and Best Buy over 10 times by amazon support, still refuse to give me an RMA number for the TV or address to ship it back, and are demanding that I let them come to my home in a 6 hour window that I did not want for them to attempt to repair it in my home when I do not want them to come here and I requested to ship it back or bring it to their store. If you need warranty service expect 30+ messages over a 1 month period plus 6 more hours of your time to be required by Best Buy before they will attempt a repair on your broken TV and do not expect Amazon to honor their a-z guarantee. Edit 4: after a full month Best Buy/Insignia sent two technicians to my house. I had to be here for them for a 6 hour window. They took the same pictures Insignia had already requested that I had already sent and did absolutely nothing at all to fix the TV. A few hours later they texted me a RMA code with no instructions as to how to use it. I contacted Insignia support with the code and it's been over 2 days and they haven't responded. It's been over a month, I've had to waste 6-8 hours to attempt to get support on a broken TV produced by Best Buy themselves and still absolutely nothing is fixed and they're not responding for days at a time. They make warranty service this much trouble on purpose so that people will give up so they can avoid honoring their terms of sale.

Just one big advertisement... I'm keeping this TV because it works and is cheap BUT the primary interfaces (the home page, navigation and the remote) are extremely annoying. They are unintuitive, don't sort by most-used/viewed and cannot be changed easily in settings. Ex: I use the same two streaming apps everyday and they never show up in the home interface. If these things don't matter to you, then it's a fine TV. If you care about this stuff, don't buy this product.

Warning: Defective TV shipped outside of the US is not covered under company warranty. This is about to be a lengthy negative review. But do read if you are thinking of shipping this TV outside of the US. I thought it was a great price so I bought this Insignia 50” TV and shipped it to a US address. From there I had it shipped to the Caribbean. When it arrived, it powered on, but with lines and distortion (see pictures). There was absolutely no damage to the shipping package or any physical damage to the TV. So I wrote to the seller, Best Buy, about the problem. I was asked to contact the manufacturer. I then messaged the manufacturer’s customer service department saying that the item was defective and would like to have a replacement. They walked me through some troubleshooting steps, all of which involved following prompts from the damaged screen. Hence it was impossible to do this due to the distortion on the screen. I communicated this and was given a number to call saying: “To file a warranty claim, please call our Insignia warranty team for further assistance. The Warranty team will schedule an appointment for a repair service or product repalcement for you.” They recognised that I had received a defective item. And that the standard remedy was ‘repair’ or ‘replace’. I made the call with the hope that someone would see the unfortunate circumstances of my situation and have a tiny bit of a compassionate approach to finding a remedy. But alas, I didn’t find this with the Insignia Rep. After suggesting that a technician take a look at it, I told her that the TV was not in the US. After talking with her supervisor, she informed me that the warranty is void as the TV has left the US. She also indicated that the TV was not meant to be sold outside of the US and Canada. As such there was nothing she could do for me. It’s just their policy. When I bought the TV on Amazon, there was not a warning to alert me that this TV was meant to be sold only within the US and Canada. I had hoped that they would have stood by their brand when it was obvious that I had gotten a defective model. I had hoped that I was not just a case number to the company but they would see me as just a person who placed trust in their brand to help in an unfortunate situation that neither of us had planned for. I understand their company’s policy, but policies were made by humans. And I had hoped that there was at least one human who could see me as a person. That I am just a regular person who had been saving for months; who paid about $270 usd + another $150 usd in shipping and duties to be able to have a TV. I was not asking for my money back. I was just hoping that at least there would be some humanity in dealing with a situation where they already had my money and I was out of pocket, and left with what is in essence not having a TV. Money gone, but No TV to show for it. I felt unseen, like my money was appreciated to help build their company, but they were not interested in easing my pain. As we say in the Caribbean, they didn’t even think to offer a dollar for my troubles. I hope this is not going to be your story. Knowledge is power. Be empowered.
