Works well as either distraction or a tool to see your kiddos. Disclaimer: was sent the product to test. Test Parameters: Two vehicles: 2018 MB GLC300 and 2005 Acura TSX Two kiddo seats, both rear facing: one Nuna RAVA rear right side, one Nuna Pipa rear middle. Product works as advertised. The light comes on and off using the remote that it came with. The mirror was packaged just like other mirrors of this type and install just the same. It has the plastic base that goes on the headrest with side release buckle clips. The straps are long enough to wrap around my headrests in both vehicles. The light folds out from behind. For my vehicles. Installing the product upside down works better for the angle of the light without blocking my rear view. Batteries for the light do not come with the product but the remote has battery pre-installed. The light takes 4 AAA batteries. I didn’t have any on hand at the time but no biggie. The mirror is quite stable compared to the Shynerks I have. It does not vibrate at all on the road, or I do not notice them compared to Shynerk. The size is same. The light is bright enough to see my kiddo in the RAVA and perhaps the one beside it if my Pipa was also a convertible. The pictures from my rear view mirror was taken outside on a cloudy day in the GLC and you can see the difference in brightness. Two reasons on why I docked down a star: 1. the base plate that goes on the headrest did not have any padding at all. It is a typical molded plastic base with raised lines for the straps to weave in and out of. Others at this price point added a padding so when you attach it to your headrest and tighten it up, the plastic lines are not digging into your leather and leaving an imprint or worst, damaging it. You can wrap a towel around your headrest I guess. 2. You can’t adjust the light’s direction. When I installed it in my TSX for infant seat, I wanted to bring the light down a little further to get a better angle of the baby inside the seat but since the light only folds into the back but not any further forward, it limited from dropping the mirror for better adjustment. Yes the backplate does swivel but sometimes you really needed to bring the whole mirror down. I have the mirror installed right side up (light is on top) in the TSX. Product is worth the price if that’s exactly what you’re looking for. The light is helpful to see a little better if one of your kiddos need attention in the back. I would not buy this product if your vehicle has the ability of turn on the individual reading lights in the back from your driver seat. Trying to find and aim the remote to turn light on while driving in the dark can get tricky/unsafe. When I had it in the GLC, my 2 year old was using the remote to play with the light so it is a good distraction. I had since installed it permanently (it’s never coming off I suppose despite not being able to aim my mirror better, it still helps) in my TSX. That old car does not have the individual reading lights in the back. Just the center dome which is super distracting to drive at night with it on. Fair warning, you will misplaced the remote (I already have), and your 2 year old will kick the mirror and it will go out of adjustment often. But I’m glad the swivel part is still tight and hasn’t loosened up yet. I’ve been using it for a week so far with no issue on anything coming loose.
Easy install, great adjustment arm. I have tried a few different mirrors, and this was by far the easiest one to install. It came pre-assembled, and all I had to do was connect the mirror to the harness. Harness straps are easily adjustable, and can fit around almost any type of headrest in a car. The entire set up, took less than five minutes from opening the box to having it ready. My favorite part about this mirror was the adjustable arm. it allows you to very easily adjust the mirror so that you can see it from the front seat rearview mirror. Other mirrors I’ve tried in the past were not adjustable after you installed them and would move making it hard to see your child as you drove the car. The nightlight function is great, and comes with a simple remote if you want to be able to add some light and see what’s going on. It’s not too bright that it distracts the driver and can also be adjusted.
