This is a great kit. The details are amazing. Word of advice use cold water so you have plenty of working time and try really hard to not wiggle! My husband and I had fun making this
easy to make and great gift. This was a father's day gift to my son. He did the mold with his 7 year old daughter. We were worried about her moving her hand , but it set up quick. It turned out fantastic. The details were amazing. My son's scar from a bicycle mishap showed. Cool because he got it at about the same age as my grand daughter . I recommend this product highly
Unbelievable! This was too easy! I thought it would be messy so I put plastic everywhere, turns out I didn’t need it. They really made this for anyone to use and have phenomenal success. If you look at the photos you can see it even successfully captured my wife’s 2 carat ring with perfect details. The practice kit actually came with enough product to cast my daughters fist. I just used a cup with a wider base. Definitely buying more of these kits.
Cons
Wrong alginate... takes FOREVER to set up! This kit uses slow setting alginate. The instructions explicitly tell you to use cool water, so they know this is gonna take forever to set up. Tell your kids to keep their hands in bucket of cool water for 10 minutes and don't move! This was not fun, the results were mediocre, and my kids felt like i was punishing them - all because the alginate takes unnecessarily long to set up. Why not use a short acting color change alginate like 570? We ended up having to get a replacement, but then because i neglected to send the used bucket back to them, they charged me another $36. So... i don't recommend this kit. There are others. Research accu-cast.com to learn more before you buy.
Not great... big disappointment. Bought this for my parents 60th anniversary. It's not at all easy, took WAY longer than expected, and still trying to make them look like hands. Very disappointed. Came with cheap tools and a tacky base.
Not ask easy as they say. It was tricky you got to move very fast and in just seconds the mold is set. Also my husband was mixing till the lump was almost gone. After a week it started getting mold, was embarrassing to show anyone.
