Pros & Cons

Pros

Best TV ever. I can't stop staring at it. I'm seeing colors I've never seen before. Every scene looks better. Even simple things like the intro scenes and company logos at the beginning of movies look amazing. I bought the S95B for gaming, to replace my old A8G OLED. The difference between them is night and day. Much brighter, a veritable explosion of color, and everything is somehow more clear. I also have a 4K player hooked up to it and movies are crazy awesome. Rogue One, Valerian, and Jupiter Ascending looked good on my old TVs but on the S95B it's like I fell out a window into space and I'm watching the ships fly by in person. I installed it myself and it wasn't difficult. I left it sitting in the bottom of the box and broke away some of the styrofoam on the back to install the wall mount. Then I tipped it slightly backward and picked it up from the bottom front center, styrofoam and all, to hang on the wall. After everything was tight I pulled the styrofoam off the bottom and removed the screen protector.

Protection plan warning! 1st tv stopped working: amazon replaced it with our protection plan. So we were super excited to finally watch our new tv. Upon set with the screen and wifi options it shut off never to turn on again. I was infuriated after the amount of money we spent for a brand new tv to just stop working within 3 minutes of being on. We called amazon support, explained the situation and thankfully we didnt throw out the original packaging since we had to rewrap it and send it back. Amazon picked it up from our house, but that was inconvenient since we werent given a time so we had to wait all day at the house-not ideal for working individuals. So a whole day was wasted for pickup. Two days later our new TV arrived. We set it up just as the orinigal tv and so far it has been working well. I'm skeptical as to why the original stopped working so I am fearful this will occur again. I recommend the protection plan, seriously. TV is pretty great otherwise. VERY FRAGILE, great picture though. Again, buy the protection plan.

Absolute Stunning Picture. I don't normally write reviews but I wanted to on this purchase as I was actually on the fence about buying this TV because of some of the negative reviews. Wow, I can't believe I almost let them talk me out of it. This TV is absolutely amazing. The picture quality is unlike anything I have ever seen on a home TV. All we do is watch sports and movies and the occasional TV show, so I didn't bother changing the hues, the level of black on the screen, etc., we just wanted a TV we could hang on the wall and work - and man this did the trick. I've had multiple people tell me the same thing about the picture quality who have watched a game with me. The TV is the thinnest model you have ever seen which makes it super light. It was super easy to hang and getting it up and running was a piece of cake - maybe 8-10 minutes. Even set up Alex to help use it. And, the kicker, although I bought a soundbar, the sound from the TV is actually really good. Now, if you are watching a movie and want better sound I get it, but what it comes with is way better than older models I have purchased. Granted, I have only used this TV for about a month, but it is absolutely fantastic and completely worth the money. I have no idea how anyone could say anything about a TV if you have bought one more than two years ago - this thing is awesome!

So beautiful. I can't believe how good the price was. I bought it from the used category, it was brand new, had never been used had all the sticky screen protectors still on & the remote & cables were still sealed in a factory plastic bag. Saved $500... Just know you will need a specific wall mount, not any kind will work, because, as you can see from the pictures it's as thin as a bic pen. Be careful with it when mounting or moving, it's very fragile. That being said. WOW! What a picture, & I had a 42" 4k Samsung for $699, & this TV puts it to shame, I can see every pour every wrinkle every hair, plus it's got this feature G-force video card to play streaming games with full content, for $20 a month thousands of NEW games. Been playing F1 2022 all morning. So cool..

Great picture but some issues. This TV replaced an older Samsung I had. The older Samsung would automatically switch to any connected device when that device was turned on plus it would turn the TV on. This TV however, does not. I called tech-support and after about 40 minutes of the person checking other sources she came back and told me that this TV does not automatically switch to devices that are connected. You have to do it manually. The other issue is that for some unknown reason when did a darker room, the displayed picture will suddenly dim slightly and then a few seconds later it will brighten back up. This is been going on since day one.

Best picture quality, worst ui. I have gone through a lot of tv’s the last few years. I have had 75”, 85”, as well as projectors. All well researched. I spent probably 8 months deciding on what to ultimately get and decided for quality over quantity. Not one second while watching this tv have I ever thought the picture was anything but stunning. This all comes with one MAJOR caveat: the UI. I would absolutely buy a QDOLED again, in fact it is probably all I will purchase until something, somehow, beats it one day. But I will never buy another Samsung. The user interface is absolute garbage. Horribly difficult to navigate and ugly. The tv is quick to load things, but it’s almost not worth it. There are ads on the home page where your first app could sit, so you have to navigate off the ads. When you are watching YouTube and a video is sponsored, it pops up a “shop” button that doesn’t appear on my chrome cast or android tvs. If you buy this tv, factor in the price of a nvidia shield or chrome cast ultra and plug it in and go to town. Another few minor things: the upscaling makes anything below 4K look fuzzy, it’s strange. The remote is cool, but needs to be backlit and it has NO INPUT BUTTON. Ridiculous for something at such a premium price. But for all these minor issues, the tv is still better than anything else at this price point for miles.

Cons

Overrated. The picture quality is good but it is not going to blow your mind if you have seen other high end TV's. The unit I received also had a dead red pixel and some gray uniformity issues. The ABL is very aggressive. Dark content and movies have bright highlights but certain games and other bright content are too dim and there is nothing you can do about it. For example, I was playing Dirt 5 and the overall brightness was totally unacceptable. Way too dim. People complain about DSE, blooming and backlight bleed, etc. on LCD displays but none of those issues are as bad as having the overall display brightness dimmed down to almost nothing. Darker games look amazing. I don't care for Samsung's Tizen OS in general but I do like that you can navigate through the OS on the bottom of the screen while watching content. That's gone on this model. Pressing the home button will boot you out of the app and take you to a full screen home page. I also have to complain about the stand. After sliding the two parts together we had a really hard time getting the screw holes to line up enough to get the screws in. It was very frustrating and was not caused by user error. Basically, I had to push the two parts together with all of my strength to get the holes aligned well enough to thread in the screws. Also the little clips would not open at all. We had to go in with a screwdriver from the other side to pop them out. It was ridiculous and painful on my fingertips. It looked so easy in the ''professional reviews'' I watched. Finally I think the thinness of the TV is actually a disadvantage. It would be cool for wall mounting if the entire TV was paper thin but there is a huge part on the back that is very thick. The TV is only thin (and very flexible) along the sides and top. What is the point? You could easily bend the screen just by handling it and the screen almost looks like it bows slightly when mounted on the stand just from the slight backward tilt. This TV has too many shortcomings to warrant the huge investment in my opinion. Pros and cons. Give and take. The ratio is just about the same as other TV's you could buy for much less. The dead pixel and other defects are not acceptable to me at this price point. The packaging is also terrible. Brittle styrofoam and recycled brown cardboard. Little white pieces of styrofoam all over my living room. Samsung could improve the user experience in so many ways here.

TV OS software cancels out screen quality. The TV OS that is built in is awful and ruins the fact that it’s an otherwise nice TV. It blinks on and off after turning on. The separation of media from gaming is cumbersome and annoying, requiring way too many clicks to get where you want. It also shows sponsored content on the home screen. Apple would never do such a stupid thing.

Deep blacks and bright picture. Great volume without distortion, Easy to set up and the picture is very high quality. With the advancement in technology these expensive LED units are closely challenged by much less expensive units. A friend bought a $500 65" TV the same week and his picture looked great too. Unless they are side by side I think most ppl would never know one cost $1,800 and the other only $500. I suggest viewing any model you like in person before ordering. You need to see for yourself whether an extra 1k or more is really worth the cost.

Not as good as it should be. I bought this model on a recommendation from Consumer Reports. The panel size (thickness, bezel, etc.) is what I expected and makes the TV relatively light and easy to wall mount. The remote control is acceptable in its quality and layout, but it is very sparse in its button options considering the complexity of the TV and the attached devices. The photovoltaic charging of the remote's battery is a nice feature and works as described. The sound quality of the built-in speakers is acceptable although they are lacking in bass performance compared to most soundbars and other external speakers. The screen performance is a problem. Motion faster than human movement speeds causes judder even in Gaming Mode. I have tried the Samsung recommended settings and various online recommendations with no improvement. Automatic and manual adjustment of the screen for older shows and movies with aspect ratios other than 16:9 very frequently results in unacceptable blurring. This would be less of a problem if the zoom/up-res feature was easier to control or disable. The screen brightness is good, and the automatic panel brightness setting works well. The Smarthub feature is awful. Both the AppleTV and Discovery+ apps that came with the TV, and cannot be removed, don't work. The Discovery+ problem is bad enough that Samsung has its own troubleshooting guide specific to the app on smart TVs. Luckily, I still had my 4K FireTV stick so I could use those apps through an alternative route. The most infuriating thing is the barrage of advertising that is required for the Smarthub with no way to opt out or minimize the number of ads. It may be silly, but I remember when buying a product like a TV didn't come with the requirement that the manufacturer be allowed to place advertisements on screen. Knowing what I know now I would not have chosen to purchase this TV.

Beautiful Picture, amazing response time! However there is a problem. The title says the positive aspects but there is an issue I'm having and can't give this a 5 star rating until they fix it. I'm hoping it's a firmware issue that can be fixed with an over the air update. I noticed that the edge of the picture is being cut off. I know your first thought is that it's an HDMI over scan issue or cable issue but it's not. This problem happens even when the TV is running on its own internal apps. As you can see in the 4th picture the tech support was logged in and there is a clear row and column on the right and top of the screen that were not being illuminated. This is using the integrated Samsung TV app. In the first 3 shots you can see a test image I created which is 4096x2160 and has a 1 pixel wide red border. As can be seen in all of the pictures part of that border is being cut off. All of these pictures were taken at different times and you can see that a different part of the border is cut off at different times. The picture offset is always shifting. It shifts while using the onboard apps as well. You can see the non illuminated rows using a flashlight. While this issue is not a problem for watching movies it is a big problem when using it with a PC as information at the corners of the screen is being cut off. Samsung please fix this. The downsides don't have anything to do with the panel. The menu is designed to upsell you content rather than give you what you are looking for. Switching to PC, having a dedicated PC button has to be added to the home under the settings and you can't remove the paid content icon in the apps drawer. Also it came with 2 plastic panels that cover the cables on the back of the TV. They didn't fit very well but I did get them to stay.

Dissapointed. After reading excellent reviews for this TV in Consumer Reports and elsewhere I decided to upgrade from my 6-year old LG OLED, which I have been extremely happy with the entire time I've owned it, to this newer technology. This set however has been a challenge from the moment I unboxed it two weeks ago. The settings are extremely cumbersome and difficult to navigate and I've had to reset the factory settings 4-5 times to get back to the original starting point and start all over again. I wanted to be "wowed" by the new picture and technology in the set, and while the picture in those fleeting moments when ii is set correctly for the scene being displayed is quite nice, it is not a significant improvement over my older LG OLED and definitely not worth the price.
