Pros

Good TV antenna in spite of the advert silliness. First of all, this is a good yagi TV antenna – and especially good for the price. Design and engineering of a yagi-style TV antenna is well understood. This antenna is manufactured in China and maybe engineered there also. The tech specifications are very good (8db gain for VHF; 12db gain for UHF) and reasonable for this size yagi with this number of elements. Note that this is a high VHF and UHF antenna – it will not work well on transmission channels 2-6 (low VHF) even though the tech specs seem to indicate that it will. Low VHF antennas usually have an easily noted 3+ft long element on the back and today are not common because very few stations transmit on low VHF. If you need a low VHF antenna, look for the long element and a specific mention of low and high VHF in the description. Note that if your TV station says Channel 2 this usually does NOT correspond to transmission channel 2. Check your location’s broadcast-transmission frequencies to determine if you need a low VHF antenna. Assembly instructions are nearly adequate. But assembly is pretty easy to figure out just from the photos. Amazon’s on-line photos are better than those in the assembly papers. Antenna wire simply comes off the bottom of the antenna. Nice watertight shield here with a (you might miss it) metal ring on the cable to clamp the boot to the cable so that it does not drop down. Be sure to let the cable droop away from the antenna and anchor to the pole. I did not see a good way to attach the cable to the antenna boom without causing some signal interference. Amazon has a splitter and some clips for a bundle for about $10 more. But the base unbundled antenna does include 50ft of RG6 cable. Nice. Although this is a good antenna, the advertising specs are absurd. *200+ miles: maybe for 1 out of 1000 users. *The box and Amazon advert includes a 4G-LTE logo: really, can it be used for a cell phone? * Microchip – “Built-in upgraded smart chip provides advanced VHF/UHF HD channels”; “Antenna can pick up VHF and UHF Channels thanks to the upgraded smart chip. No power for a microchip. It may have some diodes, caps, and resistors somewhere (doubtful) but microchip – probably not. There is a balun to convert to 75ohm coax. This is a passive system. Classic yagi. Good TV antenna in spite of the advert silliness.

Surprisingly small box with some assembly required. I was shocked by the small box size but after fully assembling it, it is probably pretty close to 4 foot long. It is just sitting here on the desk in my office and is picking up stations 45 & 50+ miles away. I am very impressed. Looking forward to a nice warm day so I can install it outside.

No 200 miles but it does work. I installed mine in the attic. Assembly was okay, the instructions are hard to understand but assembly of the antenna is pretty straightforward. Im getting 17 channels at best. I dont get channels from detroit which has strong stations but its about 50 miles away. I didnt try to maximize the detroit signal by moving the antenna around so i cant say for certain its the antennas fault. I get one channel from 18 miles away almost no matter which way i point the antenna, and im able to pull in 2 strong signals from about 36 miles away. Each station has sometimes 4 or 5 channels so best case i get 17. Normally when i scan i get 14. You might want to upgrade the coax to higher quality. If i had it to do again i would us a higher quality coax cable than you get with the antenna. I happen to have some coax cable lying around. I have an amplifier boosting the signal before it goes into the tv. I had to experiment with pointing directions to maximize channels. I like that the antenna is out of sight unlike the cheap black square antennas, of which i own 2 or 3. Pretty satisfying to watch truly free tv.

Great antenna. Have this mounted in our attic for a while now. About 25 miles from the major stations and it pick them all up beautifully with clear pictures. Great replacement for the massive old 80's Weingard antenna that was falling apart up there.

Great for the suburbs. I researched tv antennas and noticed most of the focus was on rural properties. Properties 50-80 miles from the antennas. The I saw the Antenna Man's review of this. If you live in the suburbs and your antennas are pretty close this is an excellent antenna. I get all the major channels NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC, PBS, etc. And that's with the crappy cable that was included. Going to up grade the coax today. I'm a 52 year old woman and was able to install the mast and antenna without difficulty on the fascia of the second story. I didn't time it, but it didn't take more than an hour. The Antenna Point app will tell you where the antennas are in relation to your property. That helps tremendously with positioning. At $47 with the kit on Black Friday I am very happy I bought this. Update 12/4/22: Had a windstorm of 40-40mph on Thursday 12/1/22 and the antenna held up great. No loss of pixels or any stations.

Cons

This antenna is piece of trash. Update - This update is mostly to correct the "spelling mistakes" which mostly created by my iPad Air. For some unknown reasons, my iPad likes to create its own words or vocabularies when I type some thing. The problem is getting worse and worse as the ipad gets older. It is 5 years old since I received it for Christmas 5 years ago. Although I did review my writings and correct the spellings. But often I still missed some weird words created by the ipad. First, I have no clue what Amazon means by "Sheerness" so I can't give that question any star. Hey Amazon, that is a very stupid choice of word on your part. Second, don't believe the 5-star or even 4-star from some reviews you see here. This antenna only worths... half-a.s.s., if that much. I had a Lava 8008 Omnidirectional, it's not perfect, but it's fairly decent and is way better than this antenna. I would give it a 4 star. This antenna is not as easy to assemble as some reviewers said it is. Unless you are an antenna installer, and/or you have lots of experience putting outdoor antennas together. The instructions are horrible. Even with a magnify glass, I can't read what the heck on that piece of instructions paper. The drawings are also ridiculous. I had to scan the diagrams then zoomed in many times larger, then printed it out on paper before I could figure out what I need to do. Ignore the instructions. The only way I could figure out how to assemble this darn thing is to spend more than an hour starring at the zoomed in diagrams printed from my printer. This antenna performs okay ONLY when the sky is perfectly clear and blue, and the weather isn't that cold. As soon as there are some cloud in the sky and/or the weathers gets a little chilly, you will lose most of your channels. The channels will mostly disappeared from the channel list. Only a short slight rain, all my channels are completely disappeared although I live only 50 miles east of Philadelphia. Worse yet, as of when I wriote this review, the slight rain we had in this area has passed 3 days ago. But either the outdoor antenna is still wet or the weather is too cold - in mid 30 degrees - I still can't get most of channels that I normally got back in my channel list. Despite my multiple efforts to scan and rescan for more channels. It's false advertising. The manufacturer advertises this antenna can get channels up to 200 miles away. That is a big lie. Most tv towers in my area are 53 miles from my house. Yet I can get may be 15 channels, most are advertising, 3 are in Spanish speaking channels. Some channels are "duplicate" channels. The only news channel I can get is CBS. I would like to also get the Fox News channel which I can easily get with the Lava 8008. It's impossible for me to get the Fox News channel with this antenna. Compared to the Lava 8008 Omnidirectional antenna, this antenna is a joke. I watched a supposed to be "antenna installer" reviews of many different antennas on Youtube. He shreds the Lava 8008 to pieces. So I trusted him, thinking I can get a much better antenna than the Lava. So I sent back my one-month old Lava 8008 to get this antenna, thinking the Lava is a piece of trash as that installer made me to believe Wrong! I am regret that I believed that guy. This antenna is going back tomorrow and I will reorder the Lava 8008. Don't know why that installer guy trashes the Lava 8008. I normally have no respect for the experts, any experts for that matter. I always tell people I know that... "the experts always wrong".

Not Impressed. I though the one I already have is bad, this one is no better. It does work, but some of the channels are pixelated. I am equidistance between New York City and Philadelphia and at certain position I can get both cities limited broadcasts. I used the DTV Antenna app to get the proper positioning of the antenna, but no position is good enough to get clear broadcast on all channels from either city. Next step, I will be joining the signals from both antennas and maybe I will get a better reception.

Works ok. Adding a separate pre amp makes a big improvement to reception, elements need to be larger !

Only good for 1 TV and no ABC network. I tried multiple locations testing the antenna and cannot get ABC. Assembly was fairly easy after self interpretation of instructions. I was also disappointed that the antenna will only provide enough signal for one TV. I used a brand new splitter to feed a second TV but lost some channels on first TV.

Antenna doesn't live up to the manufactures hype. The only reason I gave this antenna a rating of 2 was because of the fast delivery from amazon. I currently use an antenna's direct Clearstream 4max along with the Juice preamp also from antenna's direct at 30 feet above ground level and get 47 channels and even in bad weather I don't lose any channels. I live about mid ways between Indianapolis Indiana and Ft. Wayne Indiana with each city being about 50 to 60 miles, one to the north and one to the south of me and relativity flat ground and farmland. I point my antenna to the south aimed at the Indy towers and the Clearstream pics up the ft Wayne towers off the back side of the antenna. This Yagi antenna is clearly a directional antenna as I lost all the Ft Wayne channels and some of the Indy channels were pixelating. When aimed at Ft Wayne I lost the Indy stations. I always read and take all the reviews with a grain of salt because I have bought products with somewhat bad reviews and they have worked for me, so you never really know until you try the product. Watch the antenna man's review on this antenna and he will show you how it doesn't live up to its hype. I tried this antenna because my neighbor down the street gets about 4 more channels using an antenna with a similar design. I tried rotating this antenna in small increments at a time for a whole 360 degrees and rescanning channels every time with no improvement. Will be shipping back to amazon today for a refund.
